Ask Dr. Rivkin questions on all non-surgical cosmetic procedures, laser treatments, and injection fillers, including Botox, Juvederm, Restylane, Radiesss, Sculptra, IPL, Fraxel, Thermage, Mesotherapy, Non-surgical nose job, chin/cheek augmentation, and many other procedures.
I knew about the aspirin etc, but after getting juvederm yesterday (OUCH!) the half glass of wine my doctor OK'd turned into 2 (or 3, I was sore!!! )
And I didn't know about the fish oil - I take it daily, so I took it yesterday (day of the procedure) and today (just read about this)
Will the alcohol just make bruising/healing longer, or will it actually impact the filler - I really love the juvederm, and hope I didn't jeopordize the actual placement/longevity of it. Is the alcohol (avoidance of any blood thinners just a healing time issue??)
ACCW: this is way late for your query, and I am no doctor, but like you, have Juvey injections. So I can share my own experiences for what they are worth.
Yes, fish oil, E, (mulitvitamins with E), gingko, anything with chondroitin, any aspirin/ibuprofen, are all common blood thinners, and can cause bruising after a Juvey injection. Even HRT is suspect.
What you should do is take Arnica gel with you to your next injection app't. Apply it ASAP after the injection, and ice the area for 15-20 min before leaving the doc's office. For 24 hours after the injection, repeat the Arnica and ice at least 3-4 times a day.
If you have bruising after that, try applying warm compresses and Arnica gel. Alcohol per se won't impact the filler, but it is dehydrating. And fillers like Juvey thrive on WATER. So drink as much water as wine every day TFN. Hope that helps.
