I'm 18 and I want to lower my eyelid crease

I'm 18 and I want to lower my eyelid crease

Postby saraj21 » Wed Sep 02, 2009 7:05 pm

My dream is to have big eyes, but I have naturally droopy eyes (people tell me I always look sleepy) and a high eyelid crease, which makes them look not that big. They're not horribly small, just average sized and nothing special. I have to make a conscious effort to raise my eyelids higher in order to make my eyes bigger, but it's very tiring and it's caused me to develop a wrinkle in my forehead. And no, I'm not imagining that wrinkle is there, I've had surprised adults point out to me that I already have a wrinkle.

So I'm wondering if there's any procedure out there that can lower my eyelid crease successfully to make it look as though my eyes are bigger, and I'd like to see some before and after photos if there any of this particular problem. And around how much would something like this cost?

Hi saraj21, Your question's very interesting and I think you should refer to an expert! Dr. George Yang frequently posts answers that have been very informative for me. You can find him on this site by going to "Message Boards & Blogs." Go to the bottom of the page until you see a heading titled "Ask A Plastic Surgeon, Doctor, Expert." Good luck!

hi,

have you heard of ptosis repair surgery? it raises the height of the eyelids so that they rest higher on the eye.

if your eyes are actually droopy then you could be a candidate for this.

on the other hand, if your eyelids rest at a natural level on the iris then maybe lowering the crease would be ideal.

in any case, please don't rush into anything! have a consultation with an oculoplastic surgeon and see what he/she says.

personally, I wouldn't recommend having eyelid surgery at your age. your self-image will change a lot over the next few years.

don't rush things, take time to think about everything as you know this procedure is permanent. the moment you have fixed your mind to it, look for the best surgeon.
