Hi, I had a lower revision a month ago today to fix a scar from a laser burn I got 18 months ago. I had my original bleph 3 years ago. I'm just wondering if it's normal to still be very burised under my eyes? It's just very redish pink. It does seem to be getting lighter, but I did not remain bruised this long with the first bleph. The PS said he did more work on the right eye because that's where the scar was (just above my orbital bone near the upper cheek). He did the right eye as well so they would match. Both are still very red. Saw my PS this week and he says if it's still red in 3 weeks he will prescribe some bleaching cream...this worries me as I'm wondering if this redness is permanent?? Anyone else have this happen? Also, I had stitch pop the night of my surgery and there is now a little dent.....do you think this will eventually soften??
Thanks so much for any info you can give me!
Thank you soooo much for responding to my post.....I've been checking everyday and FINALLY got a response! I'm wondering if the stuff my PS said he would prescribe for me if my bruising had not gone away at my 6 week check has vit. k in it? He said it would have small amt of retin A, Kojic (sp?) acid and hydroquinone (sp).....I go to see him a week from today. Should I go ahead and order the cream you suggested or wait until I see him? My bruising is getting much better but I still have to cake on concealer!! Also, I'm still so lumpy and bumpy under my eyes...how long did that last for you? My PS did say that because it was a repair of that laser burn (basically a revision but more involved) I was much more bruised & beat up from it. Please let me know how long your under eyes were "ugly" looking?? Again, thank you so much for posting!
How long did it take for your bruising to go away once you started using it? Boy, I have sun spots, too....I should just go ahead and order it??
I felt like the bruising started to subside withing a week of using the Vitamin K. It also seemed to help with the swelling! Was this real or imagined or even just coincidental? I don't know and I don't care.
My surgeon also recommended a skin lightener. But when I went upstairs to his aesthetician she said it was bruising and the skin lightener wouldn't work. So I went to Sephora and got a sample of DDF's skin lightener. The sample was plenty for under my eyes and it was free! However I really didn't use it that much. The girl at the store said it would take about 6 weeks before I saw any improvement. By that time my bruises would (at least should) have been healed on their own.
As far as lumpy and bumpy. I was only lumpy because I had terrible scarring under my eyes. The scars are still there and contracting but the lumpiness of them is mostly gone. I went through 3 rounds of Kenalog injections into that scar tissue and BELIEVE me that is NOT for the faint at heart! But it did help a little.
Hope things settle in for you quickly. A month is still pretty early in the healing process.
Thanks EWhite723! I ordered the vit. k cream and it should be here today or tomorrow, I hope. Were your bruises right under your eye and red? I'm just hoping these are bruises and not some permanent dark circle? What do you think? The initial bruising went away pretty fast, but this red stuff is just hanging around forever, it seems! Some days it's better than others - was this your case, too?
Man those injections don't sound fun, at all. Are you happy with your results now, after 4 months? I hope mine gets better. I have a little lower lid sag in the outer corner, too, that's bothering me. Did you have that and if so, is it gone yet? Any info, again, will be helpful to me!
Thanks so very much for all your help. Yours is the only respondse I've gotten!
You are very welcome! Have you tried posting you message also on the Facelift forum? I think since so many people combine the procedures you may get more responses over there.
My bruises were not red. They were just regular blue-ish, green-ish, yellow-ish bruises that settled right in the area above my cheek.
I'm still not thrilled with my results. The corner of my eyes are still pretty droopy, the left being worse than the right. The scar under my lash is still visible (at least to me). It is like an indented line and it makes it very difficult to get eye pencil on. I'm not intending to do anything to them until I'm sure the scars have gone through all the phases they go through...maybe at the one year mark.
Good luck to you! I know it's difficult when things aren't right with your face. It's tough to hide and really plays tricks on your self esteem. But remember everything looks worse to you than it does to anyone else.
Take care and don't hesitate to ask if you have anymore questions!
Hi ewhite...Boy, after reading your post I'm feeling like maybe this isn't bruising, after all. Maybe it's just dark circles for some reason. Have you ever heard of that? I got the Vit. K cream today - I hope I didn't spend $60 for nothing and still have to get the Rx for the skin lightener!!
Wow, too bad about your problems......it seems these things just are never ending, huh? Will you get a revision? I know I'll be leaving well enough alone now....too risky for me! I have an indent on the scar, too but it does seem to be getting better. The concealer settles in there, though and it looks icky!
I'll be interested to hear what my PS says on Tuesday. Do you think I could just have dark circles from the surgery that will never go away??? Let me know what you think. I have not gone to the other board with this.....maybe I will. Thanks so much......by the way, I think your eyes look much better than before the surgery! But, like you said, we always disect our faces - especially once we have PS!! Yikes!!
