change in eyesight after surgery

change in eyesight after surgery

Postby jeanah » Tue Jul 12, 2011 7:58 pm

Has anyone noticed a change in eyesight since there surgery? I am hoping it is just from the swelling but, I feel like my vision both farsighted and reading has gotten worse !! I figure I will wait awhile then go in to get my eyes checked.

I did experience what you have mentioned. At six months post, I continue to use the dry eye gel at night. I cannot wear my contacts for as long as I formerly did. I am going to wait a few more month before an eye exam.

Do you mind me asking which contact lenses do you use?

I am only 1 week out today, but I have somewhat blurry vision especially in my right eye which is swollen & squinty, but I am sure this will get better in time. Using the computer & mostly reading really puts a strain on my eyes.

Last night I was watering the garden & I had to empty a large pail of water well, after lifting that thing I suddenly felt a rush & some pain...stupid, stupid me. #-o

Daliila80--My contacts are the gas permeable. I have worn this type for many years now.

Glad to find this thread. I had an upper bleph done yesterday. When I got up this morning, my vision was completely blurry. I'm very nearsighted; early today my vision was as bad with my glasses as without. It's gotten better so I'm assuming that the ointment caused it though some blurriness seems to come and go. Just wondering how the rest of you are doing? Were the vision changes permanent?

Just an update. The blurriness disappeared when I stopped using the ointment.

Tomorrow it'll be a week from my surgery. Stitches are out, steri-strips are almost gone and my swelling has gone down considerably. The area above my incision hangs down a bit over my eyelids. I'm hoping this is just swelling and that it will disappear with a little time. Any thoughts on this?

Hi. It is way way too early to worry about these things. Swelling could last months before totally resolved. And you will need to keep using something in your eyes if they feel dry or sore. Genteal gel is good and only blurry for a few minutes, then you can go to drops. use the kind without preservatives, i.e. Genteal product. All the best.

I am 3 weeks post surgery and I have notice my vision is not as clear as before, especially farsight. However it could be for the ointment my dr. Gave me to put on the suture. I am going to wait about more weeks before I go get my eyes check.
