Botox causes forehead acne

Postby wiserandbetter » Sun Jan 25, 2009 6:31 pm

There is a very lengthy discussion board on Acne.org about botox and forehead acne. I had two rounds of accutane in the past, the last one was about seven years ago. Many of the people who have had the same acne bumps after botox report having prior treatments with accutane. Most of us had a long period between the accutane and the botox, that is what is so interesting.

These bumps are persistent, and diffuse. They will crop up after I wash my face, sometimes I see 5-6 tiny ones and occasionally one or two will become a full blown pimple. They usually die back down by morning, if I wash my face at night. I hate washing in the morning because it aggrevates them, then I have to put makeup on and go to work.

I suspect hormones play a role in the severity of this, too. I just want to mention this because I didn't make the connection at first, and it kept happening as I began having more regular botox treatments, and started seeing a plastic surgeon who uses many tiny botox injections all over the forehead to create a very attractive look, until the bumps appeared. Also, my skin was very greasy on the forehead after botox. I have let the botox wear off for six months and the bumps still persist, but not as much as earlier into the treatments. I am so disappointed that I can't keep getting botox. It really makes my forehead look smooth, but the bumps apparently get progressively worse over time, according to the postings I read about this.

I think I am going to go get bangs since they are in style, and just cover the wrinkled pimpled mess and forget I even own a forehead.

Has anyone experienced this? Does anyone have any suggestions to alleviate the forehead lines without botox? I considered filler but it would create some raised areas that would look crappy until it died down enough to go out in public, and I have to work.

For a forehead filler, I highly recommend Cosmoderm (human collagen). I have been so happy with it. It is totally safe, fills the lines and has absolutely no side effects (no bruising or swelling). It is supposed to last 3-6 months. However, I have had very good luck with it lasting 8-12 months on me. I have decided to use this filler for my forehead instead of Botox. Botox just scares me too much and I don't want a frozen, unnatural look either.

This is odd because I had botox years ago and had no problems. But now I've had it twice in the last year, the first time I also had a few injections of Juvederm to fill in the lines. Since then I have had 8-10 large cystic acne pimples in and between my brows where the filler and Botox was done. I have also had numerous blackheads in my forehead where the Botox shots were . Neither of which I have ever had in these spots before!! I took Accutane many, many years ago so this is interesting as everything I've read on the internet and every doctor I've asked has said there is no connection to the injections. But I'm convinced there is. I've never in 50 years had acne in and above my eyebrows!! Now I have a whole new host of scars as the cysts are quite painful and almost never pop-perhaps they are the filler bunching up or moving around?? or is it the botox? Oh well guess I have to live with wrinkles as I'll never do Botox or Juvederm again!!

Oh gawd - I have terrible cystic acne between my eyebrows after I had botox once. I never had a problem like this before and the pimples will not go away. I would have it again though!

Just because these doctors have not experienced it, they are claiming it is not possible. And claiming it is impossible is assuming they know everything. The smartest people I know always leave room for new knowledge. Doctors know some things, about some things. There is much more that we don't know, than we do know, about the human body. Doctors should stay humble. Myself and other women have experienced a type of acne very near the injection points of Botox. At the ages of 40's -50's we know exactly what is common on our skin. These are different from anything I've ever experienced and I'm positive it is related to the injections and as has been mentioned in other posts, possibly to a prior use of Accutane. It is not a coincidence. Just because there are no studies on it, does not make it a false side effect. A decent doctor would not dismiss the possibility and would listen to their patients.

Bangs it is!!! I have been getting BOTOX and DYSPORT for 10 years now, and all of a sudden over the last year, Ive gotten these two very agressive nodule-like cystic pimples RIGHT BETWEEN MY EYES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Its my MOST BOTOX-ED area so i have ZERO doubt in my mind this is the Botox mixing with hairfolicle/pores/whatever else is in there under the dermis and I am reallllllllllly mad and upset and dont want to be ABLE to make my mad face bc i love botox >:( ...but i also HATE CYSTIC ACNE!!! This crap appeared out of nowhere. I cut Bangs bc its Cheaper than Botox! Now Im worried this acne will not go away!!!! One of the nodules seems to keep coming back and feels like someone is stabbing me with a Ballpoint Pen in the forehead! The other just popped up in the last week and I had gotten my last Botox injection (or at least i was told it was Botox ) apprx. a month ago. Now, This "thing"...right here, between my brows,..I had to got to the ER !!!!!! Bc It seems as if the Botox mixed with the bacteria from the cystic pimple and rotted my facial tissue!!!! It looked dead and spongy but HARD and puss came out the middle. never seen anything like it in my life and I dont want ppl to look at me and think I'm a bum or something bc of a band aid and sore on my face !!! Its SO EMBARRASSING!!!!!!!! AND PAINFUL!!!! Of course the Dr. that administered my Botox last has "no idea" what that acne could be from..and neither does the esctetician there OR the main Plastic Surgeon. Go Figure right!!! I think they watered it down, or used a crappy generic, bc I've never had this problem til last year and now after my last injection it is 10 times worse. my modeling days are definitely over if I must go through life with a band aid on my FACE! advice..?HELP! Any attorney advice welcome too .. class action ? med mal ? .. or just bangs. :( I want to do something about this !
