Under eye fillers???? PLEASE HELP!

Postby Blondde » Wed Apr 30, 2008 8:30 pm

I can’t decide on an under eye filler! I have gone to countless doctors and everyone seems to have a different opinion. Some recommend sculptra, others juverderme, some restylane. I'm not sure what to do. What do you recommend? Does anyone have any experience they would like to share? I've lost 150 lbs and I REALLY need help for under my eyes. Please...any advise is welcome!
Ps- has anyone heard about derma fillers under the eye and blindness as a potential side affect?? I did some reading and found some literature suggesting blindness could occur. Is this something I should be concerened about? I need advice from some experienced people. Thanks!

Hi Blondde,
No expert here. Am getting juvederm in my undereye hollows in a couple of weeks for the first time. However I've been reading different forums about undereye fillers for ages, and decided on juvederm as it seems to be the filler that people have had the most luck with in this area. Restylane can cause a blue hue to show through the skin, and sculptra is notorious for developing lumps, something you definately do not want in this thin skinned area. Most have commented how smooth and soft juvederm feels when injected there, but the important thing with undereye fillers is to find an injector who is very experienced in doing this area.
I'll post my results after I've had mine done. Good luck with whatever you decide.

I had Restalyne with no problems, very long lasting in this area too. Yes, there is potential risk with undereye fillers if the artery occlusion occurs which leads to ocular nerve to be blocked from blood supply but chance of it is very small and mostly present when the injection placed very close to an eye . But like I said it is potential danger, I have never heard that anyone got it. I once asked Dr.Naderi about it and he said the chance is the same as being struck by lightening. I have never tried Juvi, I heard it is good, I would not dare to have sculptra but the benefit probably that it lasts forever.Someone I know from these boards had silicon and very happy, I would be a chicken to do it.

I have also been reading until my eyes are blurred on this TT and undereye area. First I was going to do Sculptra.

Now, I have more or less decided on the Juvey. From all the sites I read, it comes very close to Resty, but seems to win out. I believe Dr. Rivken says it would likely last around 1.5 years in that area. I also saw, and can't find where I saw it; that it has recently been shown to also slightly build up collagen around it.

In my opinion, aside from fat from a really good f/g doc, the best filler would be a combination of resty (or juviderm) with an overlay of collagen. Thing is it's hard to find collagen anymore but it covers up the blue hue that the resty or juve can leave. Although collagen does not last as long, it has a really smooth flow property and counteracts the blue hue of resty and can be placed more superficially over the resty.
