i have been to 4 consults. the first 3 recommended a cresent lift. the 4th (the one i chose) said he only does lollipop lifts because they last longer. That was his words not mine. A girl that has had a ba has recommended another ps to me. He charges more than what the avg rate is in the area i will be getting my ba. i thought i would check out his website and they are advertising that they are running a ba special. Looks like the price would be the same as or a little cheaper than the ps i chose with their current discount. I called and talked to someone in his office and she said he doesnt do the lollipop lift he does a doughnut (which i assume is the same as a crescent) lift. So i scheduled a consult with him for this coming monday. I'm thinking since i am a saggy A cup that if i can get away with just having a crescent lift then that's what i would rather have. That way i won't have an extra scar on each breast.
anyone know if a lollipop lift is better than a crescent lift? since i'm just a small A cup do you think i can get away with just a crescent lift? im definetely going to ask this other ps his opinion on lifts for me. This may make me change my dr. but it won't affect my surgery date since its not until february. i could still get feb 6th with this other ps if i decide to change.
Well I can't make the assumption that it would be "better" for you personally. It depends how severe your ptosis is and that can only be determined from a PS.
A lollipop most definitely will give more of a lift, since this removes skin and gives your breast a bump up. But it just depends. Some women with smaller breasts, get away with a larger implant and/or with a less severe lift.
In my case, I could not get away without a lift.

The incision is made around the perimeter of the areola only –, which is why this technique is technically referred to as the "peri-areolar" incision; also called a “Benelli” lift (so named for the surgeon who pioneered the technique). This technique is suitable for women with a mild to moderate degree of sagging, although when used by a skilled surgeon in conjunction with the placement of implants, it can produce a satisfactory result for patients with more pronounced sagging.
Although not as commonly used as the aforementioned techniques, there is a fourth incision type wherein the incision line lies just along the upper half of the areola. A crescent-shaped piece of skin is removed above that line, and the surrounding skin is reattached to the areola. This type of lift is usually done in conjunction with breast augmentation, and is suitable only for women with a very small degree of sagging. It cannot accomplish the same amount of lifting as the previously mentioned incision techniques.
The incision is made around the perimeter of the areola and vertically down from the areola to the breast crease – also known as a “keyhole” incision. This technique is suitable for women with a moderate degree of sagging who will not be helped sufficiently by the peri-areolar technique (below) and who do not wish to have breast implants inserted.
cleopatra that is very helpful info. Thank you very much! that clears some things up for me. From that info it sounds like the doughnut lift would be good for me thus leaving me with less scars. I can't wait to see what this other dr has to say.
chelle i agree the final result is what counts. i am thinking since i hardly have any breasts that the doughnut lift will work for me. if i do decide to switch doctors i am going to feel really bad about telling the one i chose that i need to cancel with them. I haven't paid them a down payment or anything so that won't be a problem. They don't require any money up front just have to pay in full 2 weeks before sx. This dr i am getting ready to see requires a 10% payment before the end of the year to get the promotion they are offering.
I was borderline for a lift and didn't get one. I'm glad that I didn't. I was also afraid of the scarring on breasts. I don't heal that great.
I could have used a crescent lift on my right areolar. My ps described the crescent lift as basically a nipple adjustment and not a real lift.
The benelli or donut lift is more of a lift. This will probably be great if you are borderline and are getting implants too. Please post after you discuss with your ps - I'd love to know what he says. It also depends on what kind of look you are going for. Do you want a more natural look or a perkier/younger appearance.
Of course, the lollipop is even better but it sounds as though you don't really need that one yet? As Chelle says it depends on how saggy you are now and where your nipples are aligned (pointing down, still above or below the breast crease). If you don't need it why do it?
I didn't have a lot of tissue and was "borderline" lift. I got a Benelli lift along with aug and am very pleased. I will be posting updated pics next week. You're welcome to look at my preop and first day post-op if you like. Good luck!
I also had a Benelli lift and implant exchange three weeks ago and am very pleased. I have very little natural breast tissue, and had no extra skin, just low nipples that were forced down more by implants. I still have tape on, so have only seen the incisions once. That was at nine days and they looked great. Light red, and no pleating whatsoever. My PS described me as having "moderate" ptosis.
Why would you want a scars on one of the most important part of women body?
Doctor who did my BA, does periareolar breast lift. Scar will be just around the areola, and I saw couple of his patients, their scars looked like a wrinkle on the hand. Amazing!

Because some women don't have a choice (like me) or they would be left with very saggy breasts and be unhappy. I didn't want size H footballs just to get a tad of a lift...
If you look at some pictures here, you will see some wonderful results.
I look at it like this, some people get in accidents and have scars all over their bodies.. it happens and they are still beautiful!

My scars are very fine and light in fact when I went back to my ps to consult for my tt he was even surprised at how well my scars had fadded. Go with your instinct . good luck.
