I'm so glad it's done. You guys are going to laugh, but two hours before surgery I called and asked if the surgery center could let me try on the slightly larger implants. I apologized and promised not to be a nightmare indecisive patient and they were so sweet and said no problem.
I signed up for 492cc moderate plus cohesive silicon, under the muscle, incision under the breast and that's what I got. When I tried on the 530 cc other implants (the next largest size) they were just unbelievably huge, even on my wide ribcage, and even though they would lose volume implanted under the muscle. I said "thank you very much, I'll stick with the 492's I originally chose.
I've had two lipo's in the past (the first one was extensive) so compared to that, getting implants was no big deal. This time I AM SO GLAD I KNEW TO ASK FOR A NAUSEA PATCH because in my previous surgeries the nausea I felt on waking up was the worst part of the whole experience. This time I had no nausea at all. Also, every single surgery I've ever had (5 total, for cosmetic and medical reasons) I always wake up SO unbelievably cold with my teeth chattering. Maybe that's just me, but if it ever happens to you, don't be shy; ask for a heating blanket asap. The staff gave me one and I was toasty and fine within a minute. Actually, the hospital where I had my first lipo didn't have heating blankets and I was so miserable! Regular blankets just don't help the same way. If you're considering surgery, I highly suggest asking the surgery center ahead of time to keep a heating blanket in reserve for you, just in case.
I had my surgery with Dr. Roy Kim at the San Francisco Surgery Center, and he and the staff at the center were so unbelievably sweet, I just can't rave about them enough. They were very professional, but also "chill" and fairly young in a way I like. (I'm thirty.) The last thing I remember before going out like a light under anesthesia was them blasting one of my favorite songs by The Red Hot Chili Peppers while they prepared to operate. I love it.
Now...I HATE waking up from surgery, but this time was ok. The surgery center staff were waiting on me hand and foot and made it so much better than it usually is, but I wish there was some way to magically wake up in your own bed at home. Oh well. I slept a full hour longer than expected because I was so knocked out from anesthesia, and the staff said "Honey, you sleep as long as you want to. No one is going to make you move until you're fully ready."
My Dad (the sweetest) drove me home and is staying to take care of me. For the first few hours I was sooo stiff and sore, I thought oh no, today is Friday and there's no way I'm going to be able to go back to work on Monday, and I would feel bad asking my work for more time off. I was really annoyed. But I took a 1/2 a Vicodin and slept, then repeated that process, and all my Sinecch (homeopathic remedy for post-op, which I HIGHLY RECOMMEND) and here I am 7 hours later, having eaten four pieces of toast (thought I wouldn't have an appetite for anything) and typing this War and Peace length version of my surgery. It's amazing what a few hours can do.
I am wondering though--I can barely feel my breasts at all. I'm icing them and just can't feel the cold or the ice or anything. I guess that's because of the pain pump? (If you are thinking of surgery, insist on getting one of these, they're fabulous!! It would be awful without it-- I can tell). I guess I don't really want to feel them until many days from now. I hope it doesn't really hurt when the pump finally runs out? I'd love to hear your experience with this if you don't mind sharing.
Anyways, thank you all so much for your help and support. I think I chose the perfect size. They seem a little "compact" so a bit small, and very high, but I know they'll drop and be the perfect size. OMG- If I had got the larger size, when they finally would've "fluffed" in six months, I would have been huge. I know it's only a 50 cc difference, but still.
I think I must've just gone from an A to a D today, and I am soooo excited to see how they look when they normalize. Already, my whole body looks so much more aesthecially balanced, and my waist looks much smaller, because of the contrast between it and my upper and lower body. After 15 years of looking "not quite finished" I think I finally completed the process of going through puberty today...at age 30. I finally look like my idea of a woman and my only regret is that I didn't do this a long time ago! I am very happy and for all of you going through your own processes, I wish you the very best of luck!
I am so happy for you!!! You sound so excited. So glad surgery and recovery has gone so well for you. I did not get pain pump but I was ok with out it. Mostly just felt a lot of tightness.
I am so excited for you!!! congratulations! I'm happy that you have had such a wonderful experience with the whole thing so far. You are going to look amazing I'm sure
Glad it all went good for you. I had mine last Monday and spent the week babying myself. I went to work Friday night and hurt quite a bit and got more swollen (I'm a baby nurse). So depending on how physical your job is take your time recovering. You don't want to mess it up.
