breast incision wound

breast incision wound

I wanted to add a picture of my breast incision opening to my album. I am 27 days post op. I had a mastopexy on July 20th. My breast started out with a small tear below nipple. That tear grew. Then a small hole started opening at the bottom of my breast. Eventually, both holes met up and turned into one large hole. My doctor said that it is going to continue getting worse before it gets better. It stings and is sore. :(

I'll keep this thread updated on how the wound is progressing because I know that I would like to know how someone with a similiar complication turned out.

For now, I have been putting something called vistopaste on my opening. It is a medicated gauze. I cover that with dry gauze and change twice a day. I wash it with soap and antibacterial soap and I pray that I don't get an infection. I've recently started taking my daily vitamins, vitamin c, lyzine, and zinc. I've also increased my protein intake. Since I started doing this, the opening from my tummy tuck has started closing very quickly, but the breast seems like it is going to be a different story.

So sorry to hear you are going through this! I can tell you that many wound issues just heal beautifully. And even if things don't heal well, minor revisions later down the road can do wonders for a bad scar. Things will get better - some of my scars were awful the first 2 months, but time does really heal all (or at least make a big difference).

Please keep us posted on how your healing goes.

I had the same thing, around 5 weeks PO. After 2 weeks of getting worse, my PS cauterized the opening and then put some stitches in it to hold it together while it healed. 10 days later I had the stitches removed, and while it still took weeks to heal completely, it DID finally close. He mentioned a revision, but I have not been back to see him yet (been so busy this summer).

I had a breast reduction 11 years ago, he thinks the skin was probably too thin. The scar is definitely noticeable but it has only been 3 months since it closed. My surgery was 01/19 and the repair was done at the end of March. I posted a picture in my album from this morning so you can see how nicely it turned out.

I did go into this with one breast bigger than the other, and he made them as even as he could. The one is still slightly larger but only really noticeable when I bend over naked. In a bikini or bra they both look amazing. Even braless under a shirt they look AMAZING, because the nipples are perfectly level.

The scar to the left of the large scar is from where the tape ripped my skin off when was trying to keep the incision closed before the repair. I reacted to the tape and was left with that dark scar. No big deal to me because nobody will see it except me, my hubby and anyone who checks out my album.

I was SO SCARED and my opening looked a lot like yours. There were 2 holes that opened up at first and then eventually they joined to make one huge hole. I did not take any pictures of it (not sure why) but rest assured everything looks great and I am extremely pleased!!!

I just wanted to leave an update. My breast started healing around August 26. I noticed that things started getting really weird/scary looking. The tissue was healing!! A thin layer of skin started slowly spreading over the area. Then the incision started pulling together. It is still about an inch to an inch and a half wide by about 4 inches long but it is smaller. It has not shrunk in several days so I am wondering if this is it. I'm very pleased with my breast even though there is what could potentially be a large scar. These things are gorgeous!! I'm in love! lol.

I may or may not have a revision in a few months. If anyone experiences a wound opening and needs anyone to talk to, please feel free to message me. I know that the experience is very scary and very lonely.

You really do have a great figure. In spite of the wound you look really good.

awww, thank you so much Jodhis!! I am very happy with my current figure . I may not ever be thin, but I don't have an icky tummy or saggy breasts anymore and that makes a world of difference.

That's exactly right. There is something about being AVERAGE that is totally awesome. I was expressing that to my ps during my recent in office 2 hour revision. I didn't get really big boobs and I still weigh 155 on a good day but I totally fit in and have no big tummy or saggy boobs!
