Did u have permanent numb/reduced sensation in breasts/nips?

Did u have permanent numb/reduced sensation in breasts/nips?

Postby windydawn53 » Thu May 03, 2012 6:10 am

Hi, I know I'm asking alot of questions lately but my breast lift is scheduled for June 8th. I just got my informed consent in the mail to sign and return the day of my pre-op appt. It's pretty scary, what can go wrong. But also reading about the "minor" things that can happen, isn't so fun. Like permanent numbness in the nipples or breasts. Or permanent numbness in some parts of the breasts. Or reduced sensation in breasts or nipples, that could be permanent. I would appreciate feedback on how likely that is, that it could be permanent or reduced. And if those of you that had it only for a while, how long did it last? Did you ever get full sensation back, especially in your nipples, or was it reduced?
Thanks

I never had any lack of sensation, but I have read that some women have it for a few weeks/few months. From what I understand, it almost always comes back, at least to some degree and permanent loss is probably pretty rare. I'm no doctor, but just my observations from my own research and what I have read on MMH.

Thanks girls, thats comforting to hear. My girlz are very sensitive to touch, and I would hate to lose it. It's bad enough I have reduced sensation, farther south, due to menopause.

I have full sensation in one breast but the other has none. I am 3 1/2 mo out and hope that it will eventually come back. I sometimes think I feel something when I ask my dh to touch them without me looking but I don't know if it is pressure or feeling. Did anyone get the feeling back after 3-4 months.

I am 1 1/2 years post op.
I have feeling in my nipples but no "sexual" sensitivity.
It is uncomfortable when hubby plays with them.
They are fully functional and wouldn't take back the surgery in a million years! It was so worth it.
I was informed of the risk and was willing to take it.
I hope this helps.

It's been 10 months since my breast lift. I have about 95% of my feeling back in my nipples and breasts, and the sexual sensitivity from them being manipulated is back too.So glad of that.

Just an update. I have 98 % sensation back in my nipples and breasts. so close to what it used to be there is almost no difference. I love my breast lift, however my nipple/aereola area is now herniated. The aereola stays puffy and pointed and not flat unless I pinch my nipples or am cold. Not a super big deal but does look funny when they do that. My dr said he could fix it but he would have to pull tissue away from the nipples/aereola area, which would leave an indent and also there is a chance the next time I get cut around the nipple, my sensation might not come back fully like it is now. So, dont think I want to take the risk.

5+ years after my lift, I can honestly say I lost all sexual sensation in my once extremely and pleasantly sensitive nipples. My breast lift KILLED the sensation in my nipples. My doctor tried to convince me that it was all in my head. My once orgasmic nipples are sorry sad shells of their former self.

It is very common there will be some change of sensitivity in the nipple, sometimes it is less and other times it is more. This is due to the sensory nerve that goes to the nipple and areola will be stretched by the implant.
The risk of permanent sensation loss is very low however. Any temporary sensation changes balance out after about 3-6 months. Usually the larger the implant that is placed, the higher the risk of sensation changes.
