Flying after BL/BA

Flying after BL/BA

Postby ami3 » Thu Nov 19, 2009 11:33 am

I am having a lift with implants in a couple of weeks. I am scheduled to fly exactly two weeks after surgery, the doctor said it should be fine barring any complications....if you are going to have any complications do they usually appear by the two week mark? Has anybody flown this soon after surgery?

Thanks,

Ami

I'm 2 weeks out - things are feeling ok but a couple of things I would worry about is lifting heavy luggage or putting luggage in the overhead bins. I also worry about tweaking things in a funny manner so I just still want to be cautious for myself for a couple more weeks.

I would think you should be ok but just be careful with lifting heavy luggage and make sure you let your PS know your plans for flying- it may seem trivial but they should know... just in case!!

Thanks so much for the advice, yes I spoke with my ps and he said I should be okay, I will have my kids lift the heavier stuff. I know everyone is different but at two weeks are you pain free ? still have some discomfort? swelling? did you have implants also ? Sorry for all the questions....the closer my surgery date gets, I am getting nervous.

I had a breast lift with implants but they are smaller implants (I don't know if size of implants makes any difference with discomfort? I would imagine it might if being placed under the muscle which mine are - I have 234 and 265 since I was uneven  )

I am not in any pain at all, I really don't have any discomfort to speak of unless I overdo it! If I stretch funny or don't watch what I am doing I get a strange tweak but nothing really hurts at all.

So if I had to get on a plane right now I wouldn't have a problem doing it and feel great. I am still very careful with what I lift and don't want jump right back in to lifting heavy or moving like before so I just take my time - but for the most part it's not bad at all.

As far as swelling- I feel like alot of it has gone down already but it's hard to say I guess since I know it can take time for swelling to go away.

Good Luck! I'm sure you will do just fine! just take it easy and enjoy your new boobs once you get them! It's nice having them perky again!

Thanks, that makes me feel more at ease. I just remeber when I had my tummy tuck it was pretty painful for awhile, hard to even stand up straight.....I am hoping this will not be quiet as bad. I am having smaller implants also, so maybe I will be as lucky as you. Could you send me your password, would like to see your pics.

Thanks,

Ami

My personal preferance would be to stay close to your PS for at least the first 4 weeks after having a BL. With my previous BL/ BA my complications didn't start to appear until after the first 2 weeks. I don't want to scare you, but that is just how it was for me. hOWEVER, IT IS DIFFENT FOR EVERYONE.

Hi

I had a breast lift (no implants) in Bangkok and flew home to the UK 5 days after my op and took my own stitches out on Day 10 post op in the comfort of my bedroom - yes it was fiddly but i did not tell anyone so wanted to keep it to myself... i can hear all the shrieks of disapproval as people read this BUT it was my choice and i was lucky as i had a great recovery.

My breast lift involved moving the nipple and i had the lollipop cut ... ie i did not need the cut under the breast.
My boobs gave me no pain whatsoever but they were swollen and it took a good 12 months before they settled into the shape i now am (op was last Aug 08)... oh yes and they look fantastic. Scars are still evident but are still fading so i will post pictures when i get the end result.

Good luck
