Here is what Necrosis looks like..

Here is what Necrosis looks like..

Postby michele6869 » Thu Aug 07, 2008 12:27 pm

Well I have searched and searched for pictures of necrosis. I have read all about it on this web site but no one wants to post the pictures of what it looks like, so i decided to let everyone see mine. I know its pretty gross.
I had them done BL/BA on June 12th 2008 and they were good until about a week after surgery and they went donw hill from there. Just as they started to heal and i thought that i was out of the woods, they started to leak again. i was feeling very crummy so i called the PS and he had me come in when he looked at them he said i need surgery. So yesterday 8-6-2008 i went in for the PS to clean it and remove the implant. The implant will be out for 4-6 weeks and then the PS will put another implant in and do revision surgery for the indent in the bottom of the boob. He is also going to fix the right boob by bringing the implant down.
So now you all know what it looks like, i would advise anyone who smokes to stop. And also i would advise that if you get this have them take out the implants right away so you don't get the bad look of the scar that will now need revision. I was 7 weeks and 5 days post op when the Ps took the implant out i should have had him take them out right away i guess.
Good luck to anyone that winds up with this. All i can think is in a few months i will be better and have the revisions done. Hopefully they will turn out the way i hoped they were going to look when all this is over.

Bless your heart for sharing your photos. I'm glad you're getting the problem taken care of; your surgeon seems to be on top of the situation. Good luck with your revision. Nancy

i think i'm out of the woods. He changed my antibiotics no more leaking i feel alot better. Just can't wait to have the implant put back in and be done with this whole thing.
Thanks for the Comments!!
I see there are alot of lookers but no one seems to say anything. I ' d really like some feedback from the pics. Or a story from someone that may have had the same or simmular thing and their experiance.

Glad to hear that it's improving. I'm more like Barbie---I had severe necrosis on both breast--covering all of the areola and was in the PS office once a week for over 3mths. As of today I am at the 4mth mark and am just now able to wear only one small piece of saline covered gauze. The past mths have been a true test of patience. Now I'm not sure what to do about all the scarring. Barbie--how bad were your scars and did you have any revisions?

Thanks for the feed back. I went to the doctor today to have the stitches out and all is healed closed. i am scheduled for surgery on Sept 4th to put the impkant back in and have the scar revised. Now it seems i have a new problem. My right boob that was completley healed has as of yesterday gotten a small pink mark on it and today in the morninginf it was a bit darker and now it is 12 am on the 20th and the mark is now raised and dark purple almost black. I showed the PS it today and he said he was not sure what is was. I told him i had somewhat the same thing happen on the other breast and it was a stitch that was left in he said it maybe but to watch it and see if anything comes to the surface. Only now it hurts like crazy (ok maybe not like crazy but it is lets say sore) I am 10 weeks post op has anyone heard of this before? Seems like i just can't win i hope its not something bad

I am so sorry that this happened to you - You said to make sure you dont smoke - do you mind me asking if you smoked? I personally quit to do this procedure - I was told to quit 2 weeks prior to the surgery which is what I have done.

Yes, I need to know if you smoked, quit prior to sx, for how long? etc......I smoked for 20 years and quit 4 weeks before surgery. I'm worried too. My surgery date is Sept. 9th.......

well today is the day i go back in to have the implant put back in. Yea!!! the spot turned out to be just a clot unter the skin and a pimple like thing. So that is all healed up. Yeas i smoked prior to surgery for i would say 25 years. This time i have quit. Its been over 4 weeks since i had a cigarette! But i've been chewing the gum and i had a few drags when i was drinking, you know how that is.
But today he is putting the implant back in and cutting the scar out? i don't know i guess i'll find out how hes doing that when i wake up. Well wish my luck girls.
And good luck to the girl that is having everything done on the 9th
