Well my ps says that my left one will look ok, but he said my left will need revision so I guess we will find out when we get there. I was always wondering how it could get back together itself. Here is the link to the pics. I will pm you the password.

oh my goodness! Wow. yes yours are 10x worse than mine, I feel like a big fat whimp compared to you. My ps said to use Neosporin and gauze and that's it. They seem to think it's no big deal so I guess I just wait it out day by day. You are amazing being able to put up with that much, are you or have you been on pain medications for that?

I am using aquaphor ointment and adaptic or xeroform dressing. I change them 3 times a day. You can see from my last pics what a lot of healing that has happened. I took 4 pain pills the first 2 weeks. Then after the opening I took a lot. I took them from about the 3rd week to the 5th week. I have not had to take any since the healing really started good. Sometimes I still have some rough pain, but I am trying to bare with it. The pain pills seemed to just dull the pain and I did not want to get hooked on them. The dressings which are petroleoum based soothes it pretty good. When I wake in the morning they hurt the worst where they have settled. Keep in touch with me on your progress. There is someone on here who really helped encourage me and I keep in touch with her.

New Wonderful Update!

There was a wonderful lady on here who had told me to measure them at the time she told me then to wait about 2 weeks and I would be amazed. So when my wound openings were measured I was about 4-4 1/2 weeks post op. I am now 7 weeks post op today. I measured them last night again and I have great news. At 4 weeks my left one was open 2- 2 1/2 inches wide and it is now 1/2 wide and my right one was 3- 3 1/2 inches wide and it is now 2 inches wide. I am super excited. Just a few weeks ago I never thought I would see these days!

Yeah I can see from your photos that they are getting alot better! That's great. This is so depressing. I am keeping Neosporin and gauze on mine according to Dr and it's helping I can see it healing, however, tonite I have had a setback. It seems as though the incision on the far outside of my anchor incision underneath is trying to come apart. It's very sore and itchy and red kinda inflammed looking. I knew he shouldn't have ripped the steri-strips off the rest of my incision like he did when he pulled that one stitch out. NOw I am scared it's going to open on the outside and that's where I REALLY do not want a scar. It would be visible there much more so than underneath and it's more painful because the skin is tighter there. URGH. I just lathered it with neo and put a bandaid on it hoping the adhesive will keep it somewhat closed. How depressing though.

I know exactly. I would come home and change dressings and see them get worse by the minute and I would just lay in bed and cry and cry. It was horrible till I found someone on here who gave me hope that it will get better and not look as bad as I thought it would. This has really bothered me too. because I was looking so forward to them looking so much better. Then on top of paying that kind of money out of pocket for something cosmetic just to end up looking worse. I am still very happy with my lift, but all these set backs are horrible. I sure hope you get to feeling better soon. If you need someone to talk to feel free to pm me and we can exchange numbers.

no kidding, I am very happy with my size/shape overall but c'mon, this stuff just bites. I honestly believe it's putting me into a depression. I too cry everyday and lash out at my family who has been nothing but supportive. I have a great husband who makes sure the pressure is off me to take care of things at home and to heal but it just seems like I am not myself. I was so happy until I discovered another opening. And it makes me wonder why only my left breast? Well, my rt still has steri strips from the day I had my surgery and I will be damned if I am taking them off myself, I will wait until they fall off if it means the incisions stay together!

Thanks so much for your support! I am here for you too.

My doc never even put steri strips on me and he has done this for 25-30 years so I don't know if that was it or not. I just know that my body did not dissolve and of the internal sutures. So my body kicked them out. Hope everything gets better for you soon.

Hello,

I had a similar experience as yours. The dressing stuck to the wound each and every time and the healing seemed interminable, until I read over on PSJourneys a posting by a doctor. She suggested to load up on zinc. I took 7 tablets of zinc each day for a period of 4 - 5 days. The improvement was significant. The healing process was accelerated so much. The oozing slowed down and I healed soon thereafter. I have wide scars still because the shape and size are fine, and my husband just doesnt want to deal with the bandages and healing again. And frankly, the cost is not something we can do right now.

Try it, zinc is not harmful.

Since I have been using the wet dressings they are healing pretty good. I did notice on here where some people had taken zinc for healing. I bought some and they were 50mg pills and recommended dose was 1 per day. I seen on here where everyone who had taken it for healing took a lot more than one a day so I tried 2 a day and I felt like I was dying. I have been too afraid to try some again, but I would love the speed this up. I have a vacation planned for may 18th. Did you do anything for scar treatment?

I am a 46 y/o female who is 3 weeks post op... brachioplasty. I am having same frustration with an open wound that has gotten larger. Like many posters here, my ps seems unconcerned, as there is mo infection. I'm just to shower it clean w warm water and also or even antibacterial soap, then apply polysporin and cover it...keeping. it moist.
It's freaking me out only in that I am getting married in 8 weeks, and really hope not to have a nasty gaping hole in my armpit covered by an oozy bandage on my wedding day!
I had a br with a lift in 1991, and abdominoplasty w/ lipo on 1996, after my twins turned 3 yrs old . I didn't have any of this open wound/split incision stuff with my prior plastic surgeries. Maybe age is responsible for my now- slow healing?
It had become depressing!

Hi,

I am so down. It is 12 weeks since I have had my op. An open wound developed at my 3rd week and I am still suffering.

I go the ps once a week to have my dressings changed. They are using Promogran foam, along with merpillex foam. An infection was discovered 2 weeks ago, which has now cleared.

The problem now is that every time the dressing is removed, it pulls my new skin cells with it. I am so frustrated.

My wound are exactly like rn2413's, exactly the same. How long did it take you all to heal?

I just don't see any light at the end of the tunnel. I have used the Zinc, I have used the Arnica supplements nothing has worked.

I am planning to have a breast lift without implants, but these open wound complications really scare me. Does anyone know how frequently this complication occurs, or what percentage of mastopexy surgeries don't heal well?

I hope those of you who posted the open wound pictures are all better now.

After my PS downplayed the risks, then I had wound separation and two infections, I spent a lot of time researching on line for the truth. By everything I read, some of which was from medical publications, I think there is a 20% chance you will have some kind of complication that delays healing. If you use the PS that I did in Omaha the risks are higher because I over heard him talking to another PS about the high infection rate they are getting out of one of their surgical rooms. They have their own surgical rooms and don't use a hospital.
I believe if you are very cautious for the first four weeks and still pretty careful for another two you will be fine. If an incision starts to open make them swab it for a localized infection. Also you can buy surgery insurance for an additional $500 (I was told by a different dr) that covers post care.
I won't lie to you, delayed healing is a royal pain. There is no way to guess whether or not you will get an infection, or wound separation, or have an allergic reaction to the sutures, so choose your PS very, very carefully. Get yourself as healthy as possible before surgery, and pray!! [-o<
Had I chosen a better PS I think I would be ecstatic, as is, my breasts are improved but could be better.
