Yeahhhhh!! Having my areola scars revised soon!

Yeahhhhh!! Having my areola scars revised soon!

Postby jodhis » Thu Sep 13, 2012 6:42 pm

I'm having the scars all the way around my areola's revised on October 4th. We have developed a plan to help minimize the recurrence of suture intolerance. I spit suture all the way around my areola's and developed little sores surrounding my areola's. Everywhere I had a skin ulcer I have a wide scar. I saw a second ps quite a few months ago for a second opinion on my revisions to see if I was being nit picky (my ps had insinuated that I was) and he said when I have my areola scars revised not to use vicryl suture. Originally my ps used vicryl and monocryl. He said this time he could just use monocryl. :)

I'm very hopeful about this procedure that I will tolerate the sutures with no incision opening up. He's going to revise the scar just below my areola's where the vertical incision starts because the skin Around it turned brown in color. The vertical scars are very wide but I really believe that would just happen again if we revised them so for the most part we are leaving them.

I will also have my TT scar injected with steroid one more time. I developed hypertrophic scar tussue on that scar and he injected it once already. That injection completely flattened out the r side of the scar but the L side is still rope like. My bb hypertrophic scar tissue is completely flattened out after the first steroid injection.

I'm so glad to be getting this stuff taken care of! It's been a little over a year. He said he wouldn't revise my breasts til a year post op and he meant it. I think he was hoping I'd change my mind.

Hope you are all doing well!

Yay! I am so happy for you Jodi. (sorry I have not been able to post much lately and have not seen this til now).

This is awesome news and your plan sounds great. I'm glad you waited a year, so that you know things were not going to get better on their own, and your PS knows this too. You will be so glad to have this done!

So, this will be in office? Is he giving you anything during the procedure?

That's great you are having the TT incision injected as well. I hope it works as the other side did.

Please post and let us know how it goes. I will be sure to check.

So happy for you. I know just how you feel and how you've felt, and I know how good you'll feel afterwards! :)

Ouch! It was ok in the office. Having my nipples and areola's injected with lidocaine didn't feel too good. But now I'm one hurting mother! I've taken Ibuprofen and Tylenol several times since the surgery. It was all fine for most of the work day but toward 5:00 the local anesthetic wore off. Sx was from 9:30-11:30 then I went to work. I think I might call in sick tomorrow and pursue some Vicodin (the two are not compatible).

He trimmed all the way around both areola's about a 0.5 cm wide by 0.5cm deep wedge out and then sutured it together. If I tolerate the suture I should heal with smooth, round matching areola's. I won't see for three weeks. That's how long he wants the steri-strips on.

Thanks ladies,
Jodi

Oh my goodness. This sounds painful!! I hope that you feel better soon and I really hope that this works for you this time!! Please keep us updated on your recovery and pain process. One of my areolas is larger than the other because of the wound opening that I had and I think that I may consider letting him revise it depending on how your recovery goes.

Hi lovingmethin,

Thanks for your reply. Bless my Dr's heart he gave me some Vicodin! Actually curse him because he didn't do it in the first place! :) I feel SO much better. This was way worse than my dog ear revision.

I've got "before" pictures posted and I'll definitely post my "afters" when I heal. From what everyone tells me I noticed it way more than anyone else did but my L areola was smaller and both had real uneven scars from all the sores.

I'm so paranoid about the results. They are taped so differently with steri-strips. And it seemed like he cut more on one side (the side that was smaller) than the other. I am very aware that I am completely paranoid. Also, he didn't use any type of pattern or stencil or
whatever you call it, he just drew it on where he wanted to cut.

Mark my words! No matter what my results are I am done with surgery. I will not have any more revisions. Even if I look worse than before the revision I will live with it. I'm just not going to chase perfection. I'm ready to move on.

I am so glad to have this last revision done. I've been asking, begging and ultimately threatening to go to someone else in order to get it done. In spite of the hassle, I am extremely grateful that here I am over a year out and he continues to do these revisions for free.

I also had my TT scar injected for the second time. I will also be satisfied with that no matter what.

I'll definitely keep you posted.

Hi Merlyna,

That's exactly what my ps did to revise my scars. He basically cut out the old scar all the way around my areola's and hopefully it will heal well. I'm really nervous about the way I will heal. I hope I scar well this time. You can see in my pictures that my scar was wide in some spots and my L areola was smaller. Hopefully that is all fixed. I really am very nervous. They are still covered up with steri-strips. I won't get to see for two more weeks. I'll try and get some pictures up tonight of the revisions with the steri-strips on.

I hope it turns out well for you. I'll keep you posted.
