Mine are horribly sensitive. Horrible. It is now cold here in NY, and I didn't have heat in my house Monday morning -- my first day back to work. I used to be sensitive to the cold in the first place, but holy HELL. I wanted to cry. I jumped in the shower as soon as I could!

Since your surgery was 2 weeks before mine, I am guessin' I have a long way to go before this is over.... :(

I had my surgery on Oct 8th, and already my nipples are more sensitive than they have ever been in my life...to the point of terrible pain.

I even had to turn the pedastal fan in my bedroom off, as when I got out of the shower I could not stand the airflow on them.

What I have done is to take 2 round cotton pads, the type you use to remove makeup with, and taped them over my nipples, and this has stopped that sensitivity pain.

I still get the "needle like" pain, but not the sensitivity pain.

The pads are lightweight and soft enough that they dont show through my bra, and even though it is the surgical compression bra, it still has normal weight fabric in the nipple area.

hope this helps in some way

Katy

I had my surgery Oct 08 as well and the sensitivity is driving me crazy. I am trying to rub them each day but can only do like 10 seconds on each one but I am hoping they will get better. I picked up some rewashable nipple pads like for breastfeeding but can't say they help much. Maybe the cotton pads would help more, will try that tomorrow. Thanks for the suggestion Katy!

I will try that soon, I am afraid of taping anything too close since I am barely 6 days post op

I hope it goes away. ugh

I tried just sticking the cosmetic pads in without taping as my bra is pretty snug and they stay in place pretty good and it does feel much better.

i had this also, it really is a good thing better than no feeling at all,
the cotton pads worked well. Just keep in mind this to shall pass, no real formula for how long this will last but a few weeks probably. SO in the mean time stay away from the frozen food aisle TRUST ME!!! and it wil get better

lol good advise there, I am very glad that I have so much sensation as opposed to none as I didn't know if he would have to do a nipple graft or not and then there is such a higher risk of not having any feelings at all.

the massaging does help, easiest to do it in the shower with soap. after all this time I still have 1 side that is hypersensitive.

yes. this too has happened to me.. this wendnesday marks 4 weeks. and i still get it just not every day.. it seems that i get better after a week and then worse again. better then worse.. ihave been battleing with issues first i was fine after 2 and half weeks.. the numbness and sensitivity was gone.. i felt great then i have issues with the incisions opening up .. now i have numbness back.. hypersensitivity and 2 gaping holes... ick.. but i guess.. it will pass just taking much longer then i had hoped.. and its pretty depressing to look at myself with these giant sores after i was healing so well...

I had a hypersensitive L nipple the minute I woke up from surgery. It lasted 3 months before it calmed down. Drove me friggin' crazy!

I finally got a boy's plastic athletic cup and stuck it over my boob and ahhhh relief. Of course I only did that in the house! At least it kept everything from touching the nipple.

At one point it got so bad I begged my PS to go back in and cut the nerves behind the hyper nipple ...he refused, of course. You could ask your Dr. for prescription lidocaine (a numbing agent) that sometimes helps. Unfortunately there is not a whole lot to be done about it. It does diminish but there is no exact timeline for it to do so. :(
