I have a BR on Sept 6th. I met with my ps today. I wanted to discuss tt vs lipo. Has anyone felt there tummy looked bigger after BR? Anyone have lipo or TT with BR? PS recommended lipo as I don't have apron or loose, saggy skin, just the portruding tummy.
I had a TT first. I didn't have an apron or loose skin either, but I carried my weight in my belly and, more importantly, needed a mesh repair to keep my stomach from protruding. Without the mesh, my PS said I would bulge out up above the TT area. Very happy with the results. I then had the BR - he won't do both together - about 3 months later. Without the TT, I think my belly would have made me look a little pregnant. Good luck!
Everyone notices the big belly after a reduction. You spend your whole life worrying about the big giant boobs that you don't realize what has been going on with the rest of your body. Many of us get the motivation to diet and exercise after we had this done.
Yep I figure thats where they stuffed the excess boobs, becuase I am sure I didnt have this belly before my BR. LOL
I guess most of us do not notice how big our bellies are becuase our boobs are usually much bigger, however as Roz1955 said most of us are spured on to lose the weight, I know I have. I am now able to go to the gym, do pilates, yoga, step and even running.
Ditto!!! Tho my PS said no exercise of my core yet. I can ride exercise bike or walk. I am ready! Belly is not so big just the area between belly and boobs. Now that the boobs are gone I can see all of it....ugh!
i had lost some weight before my BR, but after i had the BR i felt like my stomach was huge and i MUST have gained some weight back...in truth, when i got on the scales i had lost 5 more pounds above what was taken in the BR...i, then, decided that my boobs had been so big they were hiding my tummy from me! when i looked down, before, all i saw was boobs but NOW i could see past the boobs to everything else! LOL
NO TT on this end! NO way. I have had enuf surgery thank you very much. LOL I am motivated to exercise this other fat away. I have heard some horror stories about TT and have seen pics. Nope, one BR is enuf for me.
My doc has spoken to me about getting a TT as I would qualify due to the amount of weight I have lost, but if possible I really do not want to go there if I can help it.
My tummy looks massive since the girls went (I think it does anyway) but I had a lot of problems with constipation so some of it is swelling/bloating (I still weigh more NOW than I did before the Op )
I am back to exercising, my abs exercises, and cross trainer, which I started this week, so hopefully my bulbous tummy will not be there for much longer
Its true though, we didnt see it when we had the droopys, and now they gone oh my gosh what a shock!!!!
I am giving myself two years to try and sort my tummy by myself - I dont expect it to be perfect, but so long as it doesnt wobble, the stretch marks wont bother me so much, and I will be investing in some Bio Oil for the boobs and the tum so we shall see
I noticed the same thing when I was about 1 day PO. I knew that I had some issues in that area, but making the girls smaller really showed how large my gut was. I also had lipo on my back and love handles, so some of it was swelling.
Now 5 weeks PO, the swelling has gone down some, but my gut is still larger than I remember.
I have started exercising and watching what I eat to take care of it. The BR was a great motivator.

Exactly. Even though I hated my boobs, pre br at least I had the curve in the right direction--boobs that stick out further than the tummy! Now I look a lot bigger in the stomach....definately a pregnant look! I hate it, but I'm way happier at the same time
I did it all in one swoop and thankfully so.. I would have been torn up to have the boobs fixed and my yucky belly seem worse and the other way around.. I now have perky cute boobs and a FLAT taught tummy! I look better now than I did 20 years ago.. he even lipo'd the hips and bra fat area a bit.
now my body doesn't match my face Oh well, I'll enjoy it regardless.
I had the tummy tuck and reduction together. But I have read so often since I joined how everybody who has he reduction sees the tummy more!!! Anyway, even with the tummy tuck, many of us have work to do after-like lose a little more weight and work out after the surgery part is healed. IT takes up to a year to either ruin the tummy tuck by gaining weight, or enhance it by getting morivated to help!
I admire you gals who go for the exercise and workouts before the surgery! Good health to you all! I did it as in spite of wt loss and working out, I had this large apron of skin from having lost over a 100 pounds thru diet and exercise! So anyway, hugs!
