How long before you can raise your arms?

How long before you can raise your arms?

Postby lake*bailey » Thu Jan 20, 2011 8:12 am

Just wondering how long it will be before you can raise your arms to shave, wash your hair, etc. ? I'm reading that I will need to have everything hip level....for how long though?

I had my br last Friday and I'm already able to wash my hair without any major problems but I haven't tried shaving yet. That I'll wait til all of my stitches are out and the steristrips are off. But make sure you have your soap/shampoo and anything else you'll need in front of you and at about hip level bc it's kinda painful to bend without the compression bra on. Believe me I tried tonight it wasn't the worse pain I've had since my surgery but it wasn't the most pleasant either. The girls didn't like being free AT ALL. But it gets easier with every shower. Just remember that and you'll feel better

Hi,
I was showering and washing my own hair on day 4. First day was very incomfortable, it got better each day. I had to rest after though, it wears you out at first.

I'd say 1 week PO I could lift my arms with limited ability, by 2 weeks I could lift above my head but occasionally, I'd stretch a little too far and feel it.
