Less is More

Hi everyone-I'm new to this blog! I am 34DDD, 5'4" 130 pounds, 52 years old. I've suffered with head/back/neckaches for years but never sought medical treatment. I've met with 3 PS and am considering BR in early Feb 2010. I'd like to go to a 34C but my husband (naturally) thinks that would be too small. I'm so sick of underwires and ugly bras that I really think I should fight for the C. Would that look good on my frame? Did anyone have comparable BR? gtmagal in sunny Phx, AZ.

I think a C would fit you well. I hope that everything works out for you. Good luck

Hi-I'm 5'4" and weighed 142 prior to surgery. I had a TT/BR/BL and went from a 36DD to a 36C (high end) and I am amazed at how much better I look now. I weigh 130 now post surgery! My husband thought I looked small at first, but now that I have purchased a few size small shirts that actually fit, he thinks I look great. Everyone thinks I lost weight and it is really as a result of being able to see my waistline better after the lift. The swelling is still bad from my TT so that does not really make me look as thin as the BR/BL does. I feel like a new person and I am so glad I reduced! I think you will be happy with the C too. Best wishes!

Hi gtmagal. A C sounds like it would be good on your frame. And the smaller you go, the better it will feel on your back and neck. I think our guys are so used us having big boobs that they have no idea what "normal" sized boobs look like! You may want to try a trick someone else told me: buy a bra in the size you want to be. Try it on backwards, so the cups are on your back, and stuff the cups (with socks or something like that). Stand in front of a full-length mirror and hold another mirror in your hand. Check out how that size looks with your body. If you have narrow hips, you might not want to be bigger than a C. If you're very hippy, then you might decide a D is better for your shape. I started out a 32F/G, and am now a 32D. I have a bubble butt, so I'm glad I'm a D so I'm balanced out.

Something else you can do is look through pictures on this site for someone who has your body shape/size. See if you like their results, and look at what size that is. If you find pics you like, print them out and take them to your PS so he/she can see what size you'd like to be.

Good luck!
Was 32DDD/F, now 32D and thrilled!

I'm 5'4 190 pounds and 50 yrs old. I went from a 38DDD (but stuffed myself into a DD) to a (small) D. I let my PS decide on what size would be best on my body and I'm glad that I did. He's all about proportion and a C would have been too small for me I think. I would advise discussing this with your doctor. I also had alot of neck/shoulder/back pain before surgery. I've had two neck surgeries (ruptured disks) which in hindsight I attribute to my breast size. Since I woke up from surgery (7/1/09) I've had NO pain or muscle fatigue. Best thing I ever did and wish I would have done it YEARS ago!!

Thanks to everyone for your very helpful comments! I did buy a 34C bra from Kohl's & tried it on backwards to see how it looked & I thought I looked too small. Then my daughter shared some of her old 34C bras in a different style, and I really liked my profile! So, I guess it's all about the particular style of bra one chooses! Plus, I appreciate the gals that forwarded passwords for me to look at before/after photos! My BR surgery has been tentatively set for 1-14-10 and am looking forward to dropping from a 34DDD to a 34C--I'll finally be able to buy shirts that don't double as circus tents!!
