I used to be part of this site about 4 years ago when I initially went for my Breast Reduction. I found this site super duper useful! Hopefully I'll become more active this time around. Its cool reading everyone who's about to go through the process.. when you've already gone through it yourself. Reading this section here, everyone has a different story so what an interesting read its been!..
Ok the real deal!..
So I got a breast reduction 4 years. While I'm very happy about my now C-Cup ( was a triple D prior), I still didn't feel satisfied. From what I know many people who have the BR goes through this same issue. Its called the Breast Lateral Side Fat... GRRRR!! I HATE IT WITH A PASSION! I weighed close to 240lbs when I went in for surgery. So once the procedure was over and time went on, I notice this SIDE BULGE.. (the fat underneath your arm by the breast area). I couldn't stand it one bit. So I figured I would workout in the gym to burn it down. NADA! I dropped 37lbs and for some reason, it became more pronounced.. which means I could never go braless because its so visible to the eye. I couldnt wear cute bathing suits since they cut down so low so my fat would bulge over. So I said screw it. I went back to my Surgeon and discuss this issue. He suggested LIPO to remove it. I worked my butt off to save the money for it cause of course insurance doesn't cover cosmetic. My procedure is Monday March 21st.... (Yaaaayyyy!!!)
My Question Is:
Has anyone experience this at all??? Has anyone gone through lipo to remove it??
I know I probably should post this in the Lipo section but I know this was all due to my Breast Reduction so figured I stay here and hopefully get some feedback!!
Did your PS offer the lipo at time of BR? Some do and some don't. I know exactly what you are talking about, I had the underarm fat before BR, so I am 2 weeks PO from BR and the underarm lipo. Boy, am I swollen and sore! He told me later that he had to do alot of work under the arms. And I believe him, I feel it!! I know that I will be glad I done it, but getting over lipo takes me a long time! (I did lipo on my flanks some time back). I know that my PS wouldn't have done it if he didn't think it would improve my overall appearance. Get it done and enjoy your girls even more!
I haven't had surgery... yet - I will be going in for the BR on the 22nd, my PS will also be doing lipo on the sides at the same time with insurance covering it! After reading various posts I am glad he suggested doing it but I am not looking forward to the additional swelling and pain.
Hey LB!... He didn't offer it when we decided to follow through with the Reduction.. nor would my insurance have covered it so maybe that was a reason but I wished he had, I would've went for it. Im paying for this procedure out of pocket so it put a nice dent in my account but anything to beat this feeling of looking at it every day in the mirror. I hate it! BTW How long did your Lipo on your flanks take to heal???...
Lucky you MellowNights! Go for it! Insurance paying for it is a definite plus! just get it all done at once. Truly wish I was offered that lipo initially! Let us know how you make out.. I go on this Monday the 21st!.. Cant wait! I got some bathing suits I got my eyes on out there.. lol!
I'm 10 days PO after a reduction with LIPO under my arms and I'm thankful I did it! It has been a very painful recovery though I must say. I've had 2 c-sections and a hysterectomy and this surgery was more painful than they were. I still have massive bruising on both sides and it's painful to the touch. I also have some lumps under the skin on both sides that I haven't talked to my surgeon about BUT that being said everything looks great!
I think lipo is worse than the actual reduction--at least for me! I just came from my 3.5 PO visit and everything is healing well. I had a stitch that was acting up, so he snipped that one and said to just keep a bandaid and ointment on it until it heals together. Everything else is going fine. The swelling from the underarm lipo is still very apparant. When I had my flanks done over 2 yrs ago, it took about 3 months before I could roll on my sides comfortably. I guess I'm just not a good candidate for lipo My my PS does an awesome job!! With a c-section, hysterectomy, and tt, I much prefer surgery over lipo.
But I am clear to get back to the gym, clear to wear regular bras (no underwire) and go back to PS in 3 months. I am going to love these new itty bitties
I am also looking into this. Mine didn't offer lipo with the BR and wish he had said something. Even though insurance was paying for the reduction, to me he still should have said something and allowed me the decision. I can't stand the side fat. He got kinda snotty, at least to me, when I asked him what is going on here on the side. I told him that this will show depending on what kind of top, dress or bathing suit I will wear and did not like it. I am thinking of doing a neck lift, so Dr. and I are talking about combining the two surgeries.
I also have the bulging on the sides, it's disgusting! but I am not going through lipo I'll just deal with it, I've had enough. I was supposed to get my upper & lower eye lids done, but I am really starting to re think it, sad thing is I really need it!
I had a BR/BL in MArch 2010 and just went back in on March 10, 2011 for lipo. He did the lateral breasts (under the arms) and a little from the breast as well. It looks great and is well worth it, but is a longer and more painful recovery. Nothing to be afraid of, just much more bruising and swelling. I will feel much more comfortable in bras and bathing suits now without that bulge under the arm.
I also had lipo of the back, flanks, i/o thights and abdomen and an inverted nipple repair at the same time so of course this added to the pain!
I did not have a breast reduction but I had lipo back in August. The swelling has went down tremedously but still having a few sharp pain here and there. I had lipo on my flank, inner thigh, and knee. I was told that I would be given a breast lateral lipo with this package but I did receive any bruising or swelling near my breast, back, or under my armpit. Is this procedure usually done when you get a breast reduction because they never did anything to my breast? They should have done the breast lateral lipo when they did you breast reduction to make your body contour. I think the PS was trying to charge more from you.
Yes! That's exactly my problem!! I am one week po from a regular old reduction and very unhappy with the results. I thinks its because I can't put my arms down by my sides anymore. II feel like a linebacker. The last time I did a BL with no implants he suggested doing flank and underarm lipo and I was thrilled from day one!!!! I know I am still swelling, unit I am going to ask abutsome more lipo at my next appt on wed. A my original consult he said he wouldnt do lipo because quite frankly I look like the "after pictures" of most his patients and I had just enough fat to hold up my skin. He said if he sucked any out, my skin who'd be saggy. Ugh!!! I think I was so flattered that he didn't think I needed it, that's didn't press the issue and I am less tha thrilled with my results this time. How long do you think he will make me wait before going in for some flank lipo??
