Plastic surgery in Cuba

Postby freespiritha » Mon Jul 25, 2011 6:59 pm

I know that I have nit heard anyone talking about surgery in Cuba due to politics but I am from Canada and a friend of mine had surgery there and she said they are miracle workers and prices are cheaper and include staying at hospital for 2 weeks. Imagine!!!

Actually they have the best doctors and medicine in Cuba. Personally even tho Im from Cuba I dont recommend people to have a BBL over there. Maybe a lipo or tummy tuck. the doctors are VERYY cheap. With 100 dollars you can get a lipo but again I wouldn't recommend people from USA to travel over there I think america has the best technology. I have a couple of friends who got this procedure done over there but that was while they lived in Cuba. I hope this helps!!

So I will give you the whole story. There is a clinic in Cuba Havana that services foreigners. This is a clinic that has many doctors on staff. When you go in before surgery 3 drs come in and have a consultation about what they are going to do. After you recover at the clinic doctors come to see you every day to make sure you recover well. They also give you laser treatment for $10 to help heal your scars. The lady who told me about this went there with her sister who had a complete thigh reconstruction in 2 stages because she lost a lot of weight and she had massive amounts of skin hanging real bad. The costs are crazy.

clinica central cira garcia in havana you can google it.

Medical tourism has been going on in Cuba for decades b/c of the high quality of their doctors, lots of Europeans and other Latin Americans go there to save costs-their cancer treatments are supposed to be the best in the world, among other things. That's one thing that Fidel did right. I don't know how long they've been doing PS but their doctors were trained and have gone to every Russian satellite country that needed assistance since the Cold War. A lot go to Haiti (way before the earthquake-basically because Haiti has a chronic shortage of doctors), and you may also recall reading about Venezuelan president Hugo Chavez getting his cancer treatment in Cuba recently.

I'm from an Island in the Caribbean, and my friend who is also from there got his medical degree in Cuba told me about plastic surgery there. He told me it is so cheap that most women you see in Cuba had some type of surgery done.

Many people back home go to Cuba for some medical/surgical procedures. I will have to get in contact with my doctor friend and ask him if he knows about this place and its reputation. He spend almost 6 years in Cuba so he might know.

I was just about to come back and post about this. Their PS is growing super fast. Not other treatments. They specialize in treatments for MS, vitiligo, cancer, rheumatoid arthritis. When I initially read about this clinic it was for their in patient obesity treatment.

I came from Cuba 5 years ago, maybe I was too young to know about doctors and stuff, but sinces am from there I know they have the BEST doctors in the world. However, I dont think cuba have the proper facilities to take care of the patiens after this kind of precedure. Is not about the doctors because they are great, its just the economy of the country that is bad and I think the goverment needs to take better care for the hospitals and provide a better equipments . Many doctors from there are sent to Africa and other countries to help with treatment for cancerous tummors. Havana is the capital so it should have better hospitals over there. What im sure is that with less than 1000 you can possibly get a surgery! in Cuba.

Yes read that too. Their facilities are substandard because of $$. The government doesn't invest in the hospitals Lots of peeling paint and broken things.

Most of their infrastructure is like that. Hopefully they'll eventually get enough ecotourism (they lead there, too) and medical tourism dollars to make up for it. I just hope it doesn't turn into a giant McDonald's when Fidel dies b/c US developers are itching to get in there. Some of it would be helpful, too much of it would not. Opening up the country for travel to Americans would also help bring in needed dollars, but that's up to the US. Recently travel restrictions have been lessened, but not to the degree that every American can go there for vacay...or PS...right now.

Americans can go to Canada or Mexico and go to Cuba from there, just not have the Visa stamped. It's somewhat risky but lots of people have done it.

I actually had surgery in Cuba and have contacts at the main hospital in Havana. The entire 19th floor of the hospital is for foreigners only and the service is impeccable. Dr. Cairo and his team have been practicing cosmetic surgery for years and they are excellent doctors. Costs are typically 75-90% less. Example my quote in Canada was for almost $10,000.00. In cuba it cost only $1134.00 (less than dr cairo quoted me). Keep in mind you should give him and the staff a tip so I paid a few hundred dollars extra. If you are interested in more info please feel free to ask....I would be more than happy to share my experience. Best of luck.
