To Sit, or Not To Sit That Is the Question

To Sit, or Not To Sit That Is the Question

Postby msjacksoniun » Mon Dec 15, 2008 6:40 am

I've noticed several posting about post opers being SOOOOO careful about sitting and saving the fat cells. I work full time 40+ hours a week. I work with patients so I do have to sit from time to time. Some people say use the pillow, some say just don't sit at all. I need some REALISTIC tips about how to save my fat cells cause being at home for three months is not an option. My surgery date is January 14th, 2009 and I will be going back to work the first week of February. Thanks for all of your help.

Yup!!! Winter is the champ when it comes to sitting - I practice it at times and its actually kind of easy once you get the hang of it :D :D :D

For me its kind of up in the air at this point - I have read that some sit right away and some dont sit for months

I guess we should just follow the doctors orders :?

no you tube video....then I have to charge ya...LOL!!!!
I found one of my old posts:

The art to sitting on your thighs....
1.You must sit on the edge of the chair, bench..etc
2. You must arch your back
3. Please do not attempt to be lady like with legs closed...open your legs bend knees and place feet under chair, bench etc.. you should NOT be able to plant feet firmly on ground only tip toes on ground
4. Make sure you have chosen a sturdy chair or bench that wont throw your butt on the floor!

*CAUTION* prolonged sitting like this will cause discomfort on back of thighs!!!!

Hey, mine is January 30th, congrats. Honestly, you are gonna have to sit down sometimes. I used a pillow all the time up until a few months ago. I went back to work after about 7 days and took my pillow. I went to the drug store and bought one of those neck pillows with the beads in it. When driving I sit on the neck pillow and put another one behind my back.
On the plane ride home, I told the stewardess that I just had surgery and kept getting up every half hour to walk to the bathroom.

I was very careless PO because I had a FTT and FG so I HAD to lay on my back at times..and let tell you that was heaven!!! I could not lay on my tummy at all because of the muscle repair being so tight I could not stand or even lay erect. I did sit on my butt drive during week 2..but sat on the memory foam pillow because it was softer than the hard leather in our cars. I sat on my butt to pee...use the toilet...sit on the bed to get up...and then when I returned to work at 3wks PO I sat for 8hrs a day 40hrs a week not inlcuding the driving time...with no pillow. So unsure if my advice is of any help?

Juicybutt........wearing a compression garment is NOT recommended after the procedure. Understand that I'm talking about compression over the buttocks, NOT over the lipoed areas.

The last time I was in Tijuana I had a conversation with Dr. Fuentes about the same issue, and he recommends not wearing a garment that will in any way compress the buttocks for 10 days post-procedure. Those little newly-transplanted fat cells need some time to get settled in their new home and develop a blood supply. Adding compression may traumatize them further and cause them not to survive.

I have no idea what Dr. Gongora recommends, but Dr. Fuentes recommends only an abdominal binder for the first 10 days, and then (I believe) a butt-out garment.

Again, if you will use the Search engine, you'll find the answers to many of your questions. If you need help, refer to HOW TO USE THE SEARCH ENGINE.

Best........

Exactly what Spy doc posted is what Dr F told me to do right after my surg just a waist binder which I had my drain and once he took out my drain off after a week I was told to wear the full garment with butt out. I asked him if I would be able to wear a garment with a light mech on top and he said yes but I noticed the butt out garment picks up your booty more than the butt in garment but the butt in garment molds you a better whole body shape then the butt out garment so it all depends on you! I noticed the butt out garment made my waist look a bit thicker than the butt in garment which made my waist look like DAMN TINY TINY!!! and hips nice and big...But for butt survival I still think butt out will be best although he said light mech over buttocks is fine! I'm about 1 month post now and my booty has went down dramatically I guess all the swelling?? I was telling SD that it sucks so much because it looks WAY smaller than I expected not only that but my hips are completely gone!! COMPLETELY gone but oh well all fat doesn't survive we all have diff. body types and I guess I will just have to wait and see my final results in a few months as I know right now I'm still in the healing process so I can't really complain!
Sorry for the long story!! lol Anyway my point do exactly what the Doc tells you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
