Kathy and LaraC, thanks so much for posting your experience with under-eye DIY peels! Very helpful.
MaryClaire, did you ever peel from the under-eye application? How did it turn out?
I've done many TCA peels on my face (pix on my blog below), but I've never done under my eyes, but I'm thinking about it within the next year or two (just turned 48, so starting to see wrinkles there!).

It sounds from the earlier posts that it works well if done correctly. I have done many TCA peels, and I'm a believer that they work (see my pix), although I have never done any around the eyes. I think I would have to leave that area to a professional!
Lisacasper, im confused. Yes youved done a TCA under eyes OR yes you've had a bad experience?
im a newbie, and I've used the Im Fabulouse Lunch Peel lightly under my eyes to lighten 2 sun spots . Im Fab lunch Peel is low pct TCA 12.5. I had NO problems. Start w/any low percentage TCA. I think MUAC even has an 8pct TCA.
I've had good luck under the eyes. By the time I did it though I had used Retin A for years and AHA lotions, so that probably helped as a prep. I started 12.5 (MUAC) under the eyes and moved up from there. Fifteen and then 20.
i did a chemical TCA peel 50% 5 days ago and i am in love with the results. i am brave and just two days after . sister was shocked how bad i looked burnt!! her reaction scared me. but i thought . what heals can heal me faster and get faster results. i am not a patient person. here is what i did..
washed gently three times a day. mild alcohol free toner and neosporine each time. and ponds plus sunscreen. drank water and water... and i peeled and peeled and look great!! cant wait to do it again!
Yes, I was wondering the same thing Annie. The pH was probably in the higher range b/c a lower pH 50% TCA would be a deep peel, even by a doctor's standards. I'd think the eyes would still be very swollen at day 5, but maybe I'm just a slower healer??
Where did you get the 50% TCA that you used, or what brand is it? I'd like to take a look. Thanks!
yes..50% at home. i needed it bad. very dark brown liver spots and sun spots...no amount of makeup covered them.. even my pores almost gone..i am medium to light skin hispanic and the dark areas gone! i did what i posted. i am still lighly peeling.
I tried 21% TCA on the area under my eyes and wrinkles were slightly diminished, but came back within a few days after peeling. A few months later I did the 35% and this time lines were gone. And they didn't come back for almost a year. Of course if you are doing this yourself, you need to be extremely careful. Don't get very close to lashes and eyebrows cause they can fall off. Keep a fan in front of yourself, because the burning sensation is pretty intense. The good thing is, it frosts almost immediately. If you have stubborn wrinkles, it is probably good to wait for the frosting to get that solid white color. Of course I only recommend this to people with plenty of experience with self-peels.
