How can I order a "Vitalize Peel" by Skin Medica?

How can I order a "Vitalize Peel" by Skin Medica?

Postby LawGirl10 » Sun Feb 01, 2009 8:07 pm

Alright so I'm going to order some glycolic acid & start those weekly peels for about a month or so.

After that, I really want to try a "Vitalize Peel" on myself cause I loved it when I had gotten it about a month or so ago. They're very expensive $100++ so there's no way I afford to get them.

The thing is these are made Skin Medica and not sold to the public- only doctors.

I was thinking of doing 1 of 2 things:

1) I was going to order it on ebay (i'm weary about ebay) OR
2) My good friend is a physician & I was going to have him get 1 for me. How exactly would he go about that? I mean he's not a dermatologist so 'skin care' is not his specialty. Do physicians just call it in or order it online?

I was definitely planning on doing a few glycolic peels on myself before I take this HUGE step and perform a Vitalize Peel on myself. But I think (and hope!!) I'll be okay.

I don't know if anyone here can answer that....maybe KadeeBelleMD2B.

If you order it on ebay you won't get the liquid retin a that goes on at the end...and people have complained that it is a very weak peel without that.

Well I emailed them & they said a physician has to order it. And if a physician wants to order it for themself, they have to set up an account w/them. Hopefully it won't be too much of a hassle for my friend to do it. Ugh.

Yes, I've heard about that Terri. Not being able to get the Retinoic acid would definitely suck. I mean that is after all what is making you peel.

Hi there!

I saw your post... I had the Vitalize Peel done at a derm's office too and that got to be too expensive.. I bought the Skin Medica kit on ebay which came factory sealed with 6 peels minus the Retinol...if you do buy the kit on ebay make sure of the expiration date - always ask if it isn't listed.

I paid $250, free shipping for the kit, which ended up being $42 a peel. I then did research to find out what I could use instead of the retinol as a peeling agent. A low % of TCA is perfect. I bought 15% from OSS and then diluted it with distilled water by 1/2 to about 7.5%.

I have used the Vitalize peel with the 7.5% TCA twice. I have gotten good results - reduced fine lines, sun damage, melasma and breakouts.

I put on the vitalize peel and waited 2 minutes and then did 2 passes of the 7.5% TCA, 3-4 minutes apart. I let the combo peel self-neutralize.

This combo peel with take a total of 7-8 days to get back to normal - by that I mean - the first two days you like, tight and shiny and a little leathery, the next 2 or 3 days (which are the worst!) you peel and look creepy and the last couple days you look a little flakey....

My advice to you though is to maybe purchase a Jessner's Peel wich is bit stronger than the Vitalize but has the exact ingredients. The Vitalize contains 12% of 3 main acids and the Jessner's contains 14% of the same three acids...

A Jessner's peel kit will cost around $25 for about 6-8 peels and then add the low % TCA if necessary which will also run about $20 for 6-8 peels..
I like the combo effect. I buy from Julie at OSS. You can also email her with any questions! I hope my experience helps! :)

So the Jessner's Peel is stronger than the Vitalize Peel?? Really?

Does Jessner come in percentages like the glycolic & tca or is just 1 flat out percentage?

I don't understand why the Jessner Peel is sold to the public but the Vitalize Peel is not and the Jessner is stonger than the Vitalize???!!

Thanks so much for your detailed analysis! :)

I don't think Jessner's Peel comes in various strengths but I think if you add distilled water, that would lessen the strength for sure.

I am going to do another Vitalize/TCA combo peel mid-march and want to go up in strength of the TCA... I have a bit more melasma that I want to get rid of... I will let you know how that goes - I am going to try to do a 12% or maybe a little more for this peel...

From your picture - your skin is GORGEOUS! I doubt you need anything too high in strength :)

OK LawGirl and Terri -

Last week I did a vitalize peel (2 layers) then layered with 3 layers of 12.5% TCA. Let me start by saying OUCH!!!!

But after a week of agony etc. - let me say WOW!!! My face looks AMAZING! My melasma and sun damage is all but gone, my fine lines are gone as well and my pores are non-existent....

I LOVE THE RESULTS!

Yes, I did the Vitalize peel by myself. I have had 3 or 4 in the past 4-5 years that were done at a Plastic Surgeon's office and I just paid attention to what they were doing...

The Vitalize Peel (that I bought factory sealed on Ebay) comes with 2 solutions - a prepping solution (alcohol & acetone) and the peeling solution (the 3 acids)... after doing two layers I waited 3-4 minutes and then put 2 layers of the 12.5 TCA on....I could take about 2-3 minutes.. it hurt sooooo bad. I then doused my face with cold water for 4-5 minutes...

I knew I was going to get a great peel... My whole face completely frosted!

The next day (Thursday) I went to work and looked ok but by the end of the day my face darkened and was almost a gray black color!

Friday morning my face looked crazy.. thankfully I had Friday off of work.
My face peeled in thick sheets Friday and Saturday and baby pink new skin was underneath. The only thing that helped was warm compresses.

By Sunday my face started peeling again and then was VERY flakey Monday and Tuesday - but I was still able to go to work.

By Wednesday my face was GORGEOUS and I had tons of compliments. I have been wearing sunscreen under my M.A.C. Studio Fix Powder. I found a great sunscreen for my sensitive, oily acne-prone skin... Baby Lizard Chemical and Fragrance Free SPF 30. It's great!

I am EXTREMELY happy with the results of my last peel!

Hello ladies,
Quick question here. I semi think I know how to do this. I've done one at home peel before, the skin culture 4000, and whereas my results were "decent" I now understand that this is not a one time thing you do.
I'm interested in learning more about the Jessners, with a final coat or two of a low % TCA. Based on all your very helpful post I think I've got this.
One last question: Should I order the tca neutralizer? The Jessner's comes with a post peel cream and psot peel cleanser. What else do I need? I have thus far purchased the Jessner's kit, an application brush and a low tca that I intened to dilute even more with distilled water. Should I buy the neutralizer and what exactly does it do besdies retore ph balance? And is that something you only use when you have too much burning? Sorry, I'm just a little confused about the neutralizer.
Please help!!!
Thanks!!!!
Odie

ps- I thought I saw where someone provided a link to buy the liquid retinol, but can no longer find it. Was that on this website and does anybody still have that link?
