question to glycolic peel vetsI have been using 40% glycolic peel for about 2 years. When I first started I did it once a week for six weeks, then stopped as per the directions. After a break, I have been using it about every month.
I am now up to 9 1/2 minutes, once per month. I"m noticing that small blackheads return and Im not seeing the results I would like to see -- especially around my eyes, which are starting to develop fine lines and getting loose skin (the latter being hereditary). I think my skin can handle more. Should I increase the frequency? The time? The strength? Should I supplement the glycolic peel with another type of chemical peel? I'm half Italian, mid-30s. P.S. for general maintenance, I use retinol and emu/copper peptides
Re: question to glycolic peel vetsBy the way, I spoke to a rep on the phone that sells the products, and she recommended that I increase the strength of my glycolic peels to 70% unbuffered and dilute it. If I dilute it, it will still be stronger than what I'm using (at least 50%). She said to start at the beginning - two minutes and slowly increase it.
She also recommended that I introduce lactic acid peels because I have normal / dry skin. She also recommended that I incorporate a dab of emu oil with my retinol as my night cream because the retin-A cream tends to flake my skin in some areas. I thought that was a good tip. The question is that I'm not really sure what my skin type is anymore! Since I have been doing chemical peels, my skin has become more oily -- apparently because the collagen is producing oils, which is a good thing. If I have oily skin, she doesn't recommend the lactic, she recommends the salycilic acid. So I am not sure which one to supplement the glycolic peels with... I wonder if I can use up the rest of my 40% by layering it and increasing the times? I believe the instructions said you can do this. Thoughts?
