Under eyes very wrinkly after peel...permanent?

Under eyes very wrinkly after peel...permanent?

Postby Kellster » Sat Apr 03, 2010 6:01 pm

I had a full-face TCA peel and an over-the-lip and under-the-eyes phenol peel about 11 months ago. My purpose for getting the peel was to address vertical lip lines. My PS suggested a phenol peel for the lip lines and a TCA for the rest of my face to just freshen it up. I said yes to this suggestion and scheduled the procedure. As an afterthought he said he’d throw in an under-eye peel as well (no extra charge). I thought it was a nice gesture and gave him the go-ahead. I should have stopped to consider that my under eye skin was fine just as it was. I’m 49 and my under eye skin is (was) smooth, pale and as good as it gets for a 49 year old. As you might guess, I’m about to complain about the outcome of my under eye area. Eleven months later my under eyes are now wrinkly and crepey and my right one remains redish. I pointed out to the doctor during a follow-up that my under eye area was now quite wrinkly, as where before it hadn’t been. He said, “Do you know what causes that?” I just looked at him waiting for his response, and he says, “smiling”. Now, I really like this man - he’s been my doc for some time and is very nice, but I thought that was very condescending and indicated that he wasn’t willing to admit he’d caused a problem. OK, aside from the rant, I want to know if anyone else has been harmed in this way and can I expect any improvement as time goes by. Is there a procedure that might help? Can Botox be injected under the eye to keep the wrinkliness from showing? Can you use one of those Dermarollers to build collagen under the eyes? Any advice would be appreciated.

I am having the same problem with a Hetter peel I had around my eyes and mouth! I am sick about this, I had to cancel vacation plans due to all the redness I still have , it's been 8 weeks. I also have wrinkled skin around the sides of my mouth and a distinct line of redness around my mouth! It's so embarrassing. My docter said peels don't cause wrinkles but it sure did in my case . I don't know what I am going to do about this problem . I am still using Kenolog cream and a couple other things for the redness. Maybe in a few months I may be able to get the mouth lines filled but I don't think there's much I can do about the creepy skin I now have around my eyes . Does anyone have any answers ? How do diminish the redness and new wrinkles under eyes and mouth. I would never suggest this medium Hetter peel , I had NO idea it would be this bad!
