is chin implant meant to be in line with lipis chin implant meant to be in line with bottom lip?
Because my implant only is when i smile.
Holly, From what I understand, Ideally, the chin should be even with the lip in profile......but, maybe not all doctors agree with that, or maybe a doctor will not use the right implant to get it in line with the lip.
If you go the The Glasgold Group web site, they have a short video on chin implants (mentopathy, I think). If you click on that, the video is good, it explains a lot and the doctor explains what chin implants can do, and it may help you with your questions. There are pictures of several before and after patients, too.
the american ideal is stronger than the rest of the world apparently... whereas the latter involves the chin meeting a vertical line projected downwards from the brow, the former is a vertical line down from the lower lip.
what a surgeon told me anyway
I think it really depends. For example, I have a large lower lip so out to the lip would be too big. It's an easy thing to do a "photoshop" chin augmentation--see if you can find someone knowledgeable to do it. Also computer imaging can help
Re: is chin implant meant to be in line with lipSorry, but what do you mean?
Are you asking if the chin implant should be 'central' to your bottom lip from face-on? Yes, it should be central to your lip and to your face overall (symmetry). The pupils are the most reliable marker to establish symmetry. Take a photo of yourself face-on, draw a horizontal line intersecting the centre of each pupil, then drop a vertical line from centre of that. The vertical line should intersect the centre of the chin implant, unless you had some asymmetry to your face to begin with and your surgeon has offset the implant slightly to blend overall. Or are you asking whether in profile, a vertical line dropped from the outermost surface of your bottom lip, should intersect with the surface of your chin?
