London (or the US) - "THE BEST" cosmetic dentists?

Postby raca » Thu Feb 14, 2008 4:46 am

Hi, I really want my teeth veneering to correct gummy smile and short teeth. I've been to see a dentist in London last year (a media-friendly one featured in all those surgery progs) but was a little disappointed as I don't want the fake, 'all American' look (sorry sorry sorry Americans lol, I would happily travel to the US for this anyway as I am for my boob job). But you know what I mean, I want to look like my teeth are my own, and keep the general characteristics of my teeth without completely destroying them in favour of 'anatomically perfect' teeth . When I saw the digital imaging in my last consultation, I actually failed to recognise myself. It was disconcerting. I need someone with an aesthetic eye for the natural, coupled with great skill and precision. I'm not wasting £ and I'd like to get it right first time. I think this is the most sensible thing.

So I've decided to look for 'the best' or nothing - I'll need about 8 veneers and a gum lift (surgical!). My teeth are in excellent condition with no fillings whatsoever. Therefore, I want results that are going to justify what I'm doing to my teeth. Who are the best names for cosmetic dentistry? Can any fellow perfectionists shed light on this matter? I would really appreciate it!

OK, I'm in LA so I'll let you know who the dentists to the stars are:

DR GRACE SUN. She's on the border of Los Angeles and Beverly Hills on Doheny Drive (?) or Beverly Drive. You can do a search on the web to find her real contacts. Very expensive (about $1500 a tooth), in a tiny little dental office, but she is very good. Her work look completely authentic; your teeth wont look fake at all and few will be able to tell you had them done except they're beautiful.
Forget about those guys on the 'makeover' show! The worse dental work ever... people look like horses after coming out of that clinic.

In Dr Sun's office you can often find movie stars during business hours lounging in the chair next to you to fix or check their teeth.
The whole office with their staff are very sweet, but you have to be a bit careful cause they really like to skin you with additional costs without telling you, which can differ by a few thousand dollars to your actual quote. And if they decide to do some 'extras' on you, they also don't tell you that oooops! it just cost you $2000 more.... You'll only see that when you get the actual bill.

Another one is Dr NICK LUZZI (Anna Nicole Smith, for example, was a patient of Dr Luzzi). He has no website but he perfects the teeth of many moviestars. He is cheaper than Dr Sun.
One of his front office staff is a real b***h and extremely pushy, practically forcing decisions onto you so you really have to know how to handle her. That's the greatest downside with his practice. I actually have friends who refused to show up for appointments she had pushed onto them simply because they refused to be dominated by this aggressive female . Afterwards they got yelled at on the phone. But hey, they did not book these appointments; she forced it on them.

For "Hollywood smile" chose the whitest option.
If you want the teeth to look really clean but not fake, go one (1) color down from the highest (trust me, you wont be 'brite white'; it looks 100% natural) or no more than the second (2) from the whitest option.
