orthodontics and teeth whitening -- prices in US vs Mexico

Postby eilantha » Wed Dec 19, 2007 7:30 pm

Hello all

Does anyone know the comparative prices and quality for tooth whitening and for braces, say, invisilign, in Tijuana vs. the US?

I don't know how much follow up care you need for braces and if you can just get that in the US, saving a bunch of money. If its not that much money, might as well do it here, but sure seems like a lot of dentists down there.

Thanks alot!

I don't know about the prices there, but one thing I would take in consideration: at least for me personally after I got my braces it wasn't just a "one time" thing - I went back for follow up apt.'s, I had to go back if there was a bracket that came off, etc. or for any sort of adjustment.

And each time I went if a bracket came off, or some adjustment needed to be done - there was no charge - it was all included in the initial fee I paid up front. All follow up's came with it.
Something really to think about - even if you got a cheaper rate there, having one close by to you, to do minor adjustments and keep an eye on your progression, etc. for me was great. I can't image if mine wasn't close by...

Somebody might know about the quality...
I just wanted to write real quick and tell you the above...

I was/am a Ortho PT -- wore them two years, and now in retainers nightly, however I never had any brackets to break/pop off etc, but did have to have adjustments to wires every six to eight weeks, always had comfort knowing my orthodontist was less than 30 mins away if, and when I needed to be seen...

Prices vary from ortho to ortho, some setup monthly payments etc, and little down payment...

My vote -- stay in the US to have your dental work/care done...

The best to you, and happy healthy smiles,

Leeza,

IF you don't mind me asking- What are the downsides to fixing an overbite as an adult?
If the overbite is quite a bit, does that usually entail seeing an oral surgeon also?
My overbite is the kind where the two front teeth completely cover the two bottom teeth.

Thanks.
