PERMANENT MAKEUP

Anyone had permanent makeup done? I've had my eyebrows and lip permanently lined. I have some close ups shots of how it looks. I'll try and download some

I've had eyeliner done years ago.
I like it, but wish I had gone with a thinner line.

How do you like your lip liner? I've been tossing around the idea to get my lips done too.

Is it painful to have done? I've been batting around the idea myself! It is just so important to find a good 'artist'.

Eyeliner

Postby Cuppycake » Tue Feb 13, 2007 7:32 pm

The thing that hurt me were the numbing drops the tech put in my eyes. Burned like crazy at first. Needless to say, having a needle so close to your eyes isn't a breeze to think about either, but....I never saw the needle.

I did have to go back for 2 touch ups because my eyes swelled so much the tech had to stop. My touch ups were free, but had to go through the numbing process again.

I can't remember what year I had them done...maybe 2001 or 02. The color in the beginning was a brownish black and matched my eyelashes really good, but now the color has started to lighten and looks more like a bluish black.

I do have 3 friends that got theirs done at the same place I went to after I had mine done, and I am the only one that had to have touch ups.

I'll take a recent photo and attach a link here in a few. Again, the only thing I wish is that I had chosen is a thinner line.

Okay, now that I got my vision back from all the flashes...

here is a photo image link that shows just my eyes. It's a close up shot and I am not wearing any makeup. No eyeliner, mascara, shadow, nuttin.

You can see why I wish I chose a thinner line. Plus after 2 touch ups one of my lids ink has bled a bit and looks like I am wearing eyeshadow. Not really noticeable unless one looks close, plus a tad of concealer or if I wear eye shadow it doesn't show at all.

You have nice BIG eyes to begin with...so it looks really good on you, thicker line and all! I think if you had more narrow or 'closed in' eyes, it might have closed them in even more...but on you it looks really good!!

Thank you! Your a doll!

If I had to do it over again, I wouldn't go back to the same tech. I still think she overdid it and am not totally satisfied with her work.

I have found a really good tech since who does a perfect job at waxing my eyebrows. She did permanent liner on several girls at her salon and they all look perfect.

So I'm thinking maybe getting my eyes touched up by her and maybe my lips. I have been told the lips don't last as long and hurt like hec.
But whats a little pain when it comes to beauty.

it makes women look older I think and also colors can change and run on you. Also as you age your skin can change and so will where the ink settles,I think it is a mistake and would never do it.

lollipop..... are you talking all or just the lips.A friend of mine got her eyes done upper&lower liner[she never wears any liner to begin with]it looks so different on HER,i think she maybe should of just started with upper and alittle thinner line like you cuppycake.Thats always been my scare on permanent,if i would get tired of it/colors change and just something about getting up in the morning with make-up on...maybe i'm weird but gosh would really save time in the morning and if i don't put my contact in hard to put my eye make-up on.I'm undecided on all of this.... annemarie
Hope you gals had a beautiful V-Day yesterday

It is an important decision no doubt about it. You can't wipe it off if you don't like it. It can run too depending on your skin and how good the tech is. Like my one eye lid shows on the upper left.

Like LookinUp said, it's important to find a good artist.

The permanent eyeliner does fade over time. I was told that after 7 years that it would be hardly noticeable. The picture I posted looks a lot darker than what I see in the mirror.

Two of my friends who had it done on the upper eye lid only. One is 59 years-old and the other is 60. It looks like they have mascara on. My other friend is in her mid 50's and she had both upper and lower done like me. Hers is a thinner line and it makes her eyelashes look thicker. None of them have any complaints about it. Personally, I don't think it makes them look older. Probably because for one, I like a little eyeliner, and secondly they had thinner lines done.

I'm still tossing around getting mine fixed on certain spots. At the same time I like how the color is fading and looks better as I age. Just not sure so I'm not going to do anything yet.

For now, I am interested in getting the lip liner in 2 months. I'll make sure to take before and after photos.

I think any permanent makeup has the potential to go bad,the lip line color can run and fade with time. Also, who wants to wear the same face everyday? Makeup styles change and nothing ages a woman faster than permanent eyeliner! I never put a visible line on my lids, I very gently press dark powder down INTO the lash line not on top,so it doesnt look like I have liner on but it does open up my eyes.....

I guess its just a matter of personal opinion and of course, personal choice.

When I see someone with eyeliner nicely done, I don't think it makes them looked aged. I look at it as an enhancement.

For me, I've worn it since I was able to sneak a pencil to High School and put it on. I could never get a good brand that didn't smear or wear off. And then there were other brands that I would have an allergic reaction to.
So, I finally had the permanent done. And I can always use a different color to go over it or use a concealer if I want.

Now I'm even more curious as to how many others here have had some permanent make-up done. Has to be more than 2 of us. :)

Postby almostfine » Thu Feb 22, 2007 4:53 pm

i'm sorry. i forgot i posted on this site. Yes. I had the lip liner and eyebrows done. Im a women of color and lip liner doesn't take very well. The first 1week it looked great but then it all started to fade quick. I looooove my eyebrows. Best thing I chose for myself. I wanted to do the eyeliner but chicken out at the last min. No the lip liner didnt hurt at all. the numbing cream sat there for 40min and it worked but the color didn't take. oh well.

I had eyeliner and full lips done in 2000. Cannot see the eyeliner at all anymore. I would get that done again. The lips never changed color, however wore off in certain areas, so I do need to wear lipstick and liner again. My technician did a great job, but the lips were very painful...and REALLY swelled ,,,looks like you were in a fight (and lost!) for a few days.
My liner was really close to the lashes, and the top was done on the inside of the lash line, so you didnt see "a line". Just enhanced the eye.
I have not found liner that doesnt smudge, so I like this option.

Eyebrows / Lips done

Postby raizen » Sun Mar 04, 2007 3:48 pm

Hi, I had my eyebrows and lips done with permanent make up, or should I say semi-permanent. Anyway, apart from being quite expensive, it was very painful having my lips done, not so bad with the eyebrows. I really liked the results and it looked very natural. I will have to save up to have it done again. :)
