Hi Dr Amron,
I had chin lipo 4 weeks ago and have some pain around the jawline and neck area along with some lumps and swelling. Is this normal and are there things I could be doing to help with the healing process?
Like I have said in previous answers, it does take time for the swelling to go down after liposuction in almost any area, and at four weeks I would definitely not say that you should be judging this as your final result. The swelling should subside over the next several months. In terms of the lumps, the neck is one area that is possible to get some firm nodules of dense inflammation that will tend to soften with time over the next few months. Usually if it is due to a dense inflammation, some gentle massage in these areas several times a day for 10 – 15 minutes will tend to soften this up. I find that if this has not worked within two to three months, sometimes I will place a lit bit of low dose cortisol inter-lesionally with a small needle into these nodules of dense inflammation. I would follow up with your surgeon and have him assess these areas.
