We've been having a small discussion on the lipo board about leptin resistance and the difficulty of losing weight after lipo. Have you had clients experience this? is it real? is there anything we can do to prevent/lessen it?
With regard to questions that have to do with nutrition, dietary changes or hormonal issues; this is a very large field with many opinions on how to go about approaching it. I have avoided getting into to much discussion with patients about dietary changes and different philosophies simply because there is a lot of research, and I think these questions are better answered by nutritional experts.
As an expert in liposuction, I do everything possible to know about newest issues and trends having to do with liposuction. So, when it comes to nutrition questions I feel that the best answers will come from the person who also specializes in nutrition. Similarly, when a patient asks me about different fitness programs, I also refer them to an outstanding personal trainer or fitness expert.
This is not to say that I don’t underscore the importance of good diet and exercise, I think that they are extremely important in optimizing the results from liposuction. It’s just that I refer my patients to experts to answer those questions.
