Has anyone had experience with this doctor? I live in the eastern US but would travel to operate a non-controversial doctor.......from what I read about him, it sounds very good, he is located in the LA area.......but I would like to hear from anyone who has been operated by him.

I had a consult with him 2 months ago (July 2008), but so far, I have not had surgery. He has been the only doctor I've consulted with. He was blunt with me (he describes himself as blunt) and said that I was not ready to have plastic surgery. I'm sure he's made his money and does not advertise or push surgery on anyone. I don't know what his results are really like. I saw some photos, but it was hard to tell. There's one important point to keep in mind. He's old! I believe he's in his early eighties. The staff told me that he has a younger assistant, so this may not be a problem. You can search for an article about him on the web - some doctors consider him to be the founder of the modern face lift. I also went to a physician meeting in which he spoke - he was quite a good speaker. Several other presenters also commented positively on him.
Sorry, I don't think this is that helpul. I'd be interested to hear what others have to say.

I didn't realize he was so old, I wouldn't want anyone in their 80s operating on me (not even 70s actually). But it would be good to get an opinion from him since he obviously doesn't beat around the bush.

Although I'm replying, 3 yrs after your post, I've had expericnce with Connell.
He perfored a forehead lift on me in aprox 2008. He is old but hands are steady. He seems to have trouble hearing to a certain degree but I'd still would totally trust him. He is conservative in his approach. i.e. natural. I had heard, years ago, that he is the surgeon to the surgeons. I'm very pleased with my forehead lift. He went the extra mile and corrected my upper nose while in the process, where another plastic surgeon left a minor mistake.

I am a little surprised he is doing more than consults. People who have interacted with him speak well of his character. I believe Tim Marten was one of his first fellow. He and Dr. Connell sometimes give seminars together. Another one of his well-regarded student is Garth Fisher...Juan Fuentes and Dr. Quiroz spent time training with Connell as well.

Of those Tim Marten is the person I know best. Beside his skill, Dr. Marten works with dedication and compassion.

Dr. Bruce Connell has now retired from active practice. As one of his many international Fellows, I can state without reservation he was one of the best Facial Plastics Surgeons of his time. His aesthetic concepts were ahead of his time and his attention to detail placed him above all of his peers at the time.
