Newbie--Want a Mid-face/Cheek lift--Which way is best?

Newbie--Want a Mid-face/Cheek lift--Which way is best?

Postby suezeeq » Tue Aug 01, 2006 7:44 am

Hello!!! Several years ago, I had a lower bleph. Unfortunately I didn't have a mid face/cheek lift at the time. Now the excess skin/crinkling under my eyes and my naso-labial folds are bugging me. I'm planning on some type of mid-face/cheek lift.

I've had one consult where the PS wants to make the incisions under my eyes and do a vertical lift. However, I've also read about endoscopic and percutaneous (sp?) lifts??

What's the latest/greatest way to lift the mid face/cheek?

BTW, I'm also considering a lateral brow lift while I'm under.

Thanks for any info you can provide!!!

deep plane face lifts are suppose to be good for uplifting cheek areas.

you can get an endo brow and midface lift at the same time, with the same incisions as the endo browl. I am going to have one in a year or two (have to wait for baby to be born and weaned). I don't know where you are but I am probably going to go to Dr. Kao in Santa Monica.
He can also do a lower skin only pinch bleph which will help with under eye crinkling which you may get if they lift up your cheeks again and there is extra skin
Good luck.

Thank you! I'll have to do more research. Obviously I'd rather have as minimal an incision site as possible. I'm in Northern California but I'll google Dr. Kao's website, "deep plane" face lifts and the pinch blephs (hadn't heard of either of the latter two).

Thanks! Wish I'd known about this site before I did my lower bleph. I would have had it done all at one time.

Helloooooooooooo! I'm in Marin County (north of San Francisco). I guess I'm kind of a plastic surgery tramp. My lower bleph was done by Dr. Delgado and I had a breast augmentation by Dr. Stanley Poulous. I'm thinking this is my last...and I'm considering having it done by Dr. Terry Hand in Greenbrae. He's not....fancy? But he does a ton of these vertical cheek lifts and I've had him do botox and restylane for me; I've been happy with the results. He's pretty conservative which is what I want.

And you? Where are you located?

Hi suezeeq, I live in Santa Rosa. Did you like Dr. Delgado for your bleph?
I've seen him for botox. He is a very nice person. I have a friend who is considering him for bleph. I am getting a neck/mid face lift from Dr. Jacobs in Santa Rosa in a couple of weeks. He does the deep plane lift. I have considerable lower facial and neck sagging. Joyce

Suezeeq ~

My doc has a web site and if you look at the procedures, he describes them well. Of course, I'm delighted with the results or I wouldn't give you this. :D

Actually, his Fellow (who this year was finishing his fellowship and happened to be his son, Dr. Eric Evans!) did my surgery because I really couldn't afford the main doc (T. William Evans-Columbus OH). You may want to read his description of a 'deeper' plane face lift (I had this and the neck surgery).

If you're researching check out this information - the URL may take you to just the deeper plane face lift, but you can go back to his home page to find other procedures: http://www.evansddsmd.com/proc/face/faceindex.htm

Good luck!!

I guess the difference between a mid face lift and a cheeklift is that the mfl is done through the eyes which can have more complications. A cheeklift is more diagonal and is done in the hair near the temple. Both are very long recovery times. I had a cheeklift, four months ago and I still have some tightness and discoloration.

MFL via the lower eye incision has its drawbacks. The newer way is to go in through the mouth which does not risk distortion of the eye area.

I travelled from the UK for 'the works' with Dr Timothy Marten in San Francisco last summer. He's highly recommended, probably one of the top ten plastic surgeons in the world, so not cheap I'm afraid.

I went to Dr. Delgado in Marin County/SF too, but for extensive liposuction on my butt/hips/thighs and he did an amazing job. He took out a huge amount, per my request (I dropped from a size 12 to a size 6 and sometimes 4). I haven't had him work on my face, but I agree, he is a true sweetheart and really cared about giving me results I would would be happy with.

If there is ANY WAY that excludes via the mouth and via the lower eye...go for that. I had deep plane endoscopic cheek lift via those incisions about 2 years ago....and whilst the eye area is fine, though a little lumpy....I still cant feel my upper gums either side and it feels weird...like I have food or a permanent bolster stuck up there. I also have the interesting feeling if I scratch my nose I feel it across my cheek. It also took a good 4-6 months before my face returned to normal....and I've always been a good quick healer.

I had a Midfacelift done and I don't think I would have made the same decision had I known the consequences .
