TOO OLD ?

TOO OLD ?

Postby Confused1 » Sat Apr 18, 2015 8:34 am

I am a 67 year old male who suffered from Acne scars all my life until I discovered Fraxel Repair. I have had 5 Repairs with good results. Now I am getting ready to retire at age 70, and I am contemplating a face, eye and neck lift as a retirement gift to myself. In addition to the 5 Repairs I had hair transplants 4 years ago that turned out great. I may add more transplants and a nose job to my plan. Am I too old to do this? I am a very fast healer, and pretty active.

I don't think you are too old at all! Seems like the perfect time!

Well, here I sit 3 years later, and retiring at the end of March. Thinking about PS in Mexico or Costa Rico. Any thoughts?

Although I can't opine on an extremely VAGUE information concerning a LARGE group of doctors that would be in the geo-locals of Mexico or Costa-Rica other than to tell you that SOME doctors in ANY given geo-local would be good and OTHERS would not as would be the case if someone said; 'Thinking of going to New York or California for surgery', I would suggest you research the doctors in your selected geo-local by NAME just like one would do if they were looking for a doctor in any state of the USA.

With regard to narrowing down the GROUP of doctors one could find in your selected geo-locals, I would suggest selecting from those who are members of the ISAPS which stands for the International Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons. This group is affiliated with the ASAPS which is the American Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons. Once you collect some NAMEs of doctors from there, you can further research for feedback based on that.

Basically, you want to avoid being sent to just 'any who knows who' doctor which can happen if you go through a travel agency marketing doctors in that geo-local. You want to at least be able to cross reference their name to see if they are associated with a respectable international group of doctors and from there, inquire further for feedback or other info on them.

As to are you 'too old', probably not. But once one gets past a certain age, a good PS would want a medical clearance from your primary care doctor based on what ever tests they want you to 'pass' before surgery. So, you would want to make sure what ever doctor you go to in your selected geo-local OUTSIDE of the USA would want same/similar.

OK, I retired 04/01/2018 so I am still getting adjusted to retirement life. I have decided on Dr. Lev in Costa Rico, and they have a recovery place a block away, run by a nurse with 20 years experience working with plastic surgery patients - $95 a night which includes meals and transportation to the doctors office. I am looking at a 2 week stay. I am getting my weight down as low as I can get since I believe that effects the results. Does anyone have any comments on Dr. Lev because I can find nothing negative.
