Dr. Y

Dr. Y

Postby seasons » Fri Dec 21, 2007 2:51 pm

Hi everyone,

I am just in from Bston. Had surgery on Dec. 19 with Dr. Y. His mission with me was to fix some things of a surgery I had this past March. I cannot begin to tell you how upset I was with the last surgery but life goes on and you still have to get up in the mornings, go to work, etc. and do the shriek after the occasional glance in the mirror. Well, I currently look like a chubbly little china doll (I'm' swollen) but I can't wait to see the results.
Not only does he and his staff idsplay upmost professionalism, it is clear that they are compassionate about their patients. The anesthesiologist came in a visited with me, as did Dr. Y before the surgery and put me at ease. Dr. Y corrected the fat grafts that this other doctor injected and were too heavy for may face, He gave me gave an endoscopic face lift, lowered my brow that was lifted to high, did a lip lift, he also corrected my eye shapes. One eye he had particiular problem with shaping because of some past lazer I had done and he told me today that he kept working it until he got it right. Two other doctors I consulted with were just going to "pull the skin tighter around the nieck" and "maybe do a pinch on the eyes". Undoubtedly, I would have been back in several years and perhaps not satisfied at all.
He also has a very busy staff and he had an assistant call me right away when I sent him email some months about the dissatifaction of my past surgery. I had given up and sought out to find one of the best. He was on it and was able to accommodate my schedule, seeing ma atfter 5 pm on a Friday for consult and even switching a surgery room with another doctor on the date I needed due to work schedule.
Anyway, I'm tired, been traveling all day to get home and what about all this snow???? Geez, was I fooled last year by the weather. I stayed im Boston at the Copley Inn (very accommodating) the day before and after and stayed at the surgery center the night after the surgery. I am sure I drove the night nurse crazy because I am claustrophobic and don't like things over my eyes where I can't see.
But I will certainly try to post some pics in the very near future. I'm sure there are some very good surgeons out there. Dr. Yaremchuk is certainly one of them. Sometimes it is worth a bit more to travel a bit further and spend a bit of extra money.

Seasons,
Way to go--you must feel as if you have had a huge weight lifted. You are so strong. If you can do it alone, then maybe I can, too. I am so happy for you.

Hi Jane,

I didn't realize there were two Janes posting, Janie and Jane56. Janie is having work done in spring time and I believe she's decided to go with Dr. Y.

As far as you going it alone, it is doable. It woulda been so much nicer to have someone, especially since I was under for eight hours and pretty loopy but the surgery center took good care of me the night of surgery and I was a few blocks away at a hotel the next night just in case I needed something in a hurry.

My swelling is going down pretty good now. I was surprised at the minimal bruising I had. Dr. Y used I think 7 drains. The guy that worked on me back in March didn't use any and I bruised and swelled horribly. I had to go back to work saying my face hit the dashboard. Of course, some of them had other ideas.

Good luck with things and let me know how things are going.

Seasons,

It sounds like everything is going great.

I had no idea that Dr. Y did lip lifts. He does not advertise this on his site. Do you know what kind it was?

Congratultions!

Lip Lift

Postby seasons » Thu Dec 27, 2007 5:56 am

Hi Mindy,

Well, I didn't know he did them either but then, of course, I've never heard of such a thing!
I guess its the bull wing (?) where they cut up under the nose and raise the lip.
He does great work. When I post the before and after pics, you can see the improvement that it has made. I want to let the rest of my swelling go down and may consider slight enhancement with a filler. I had very thin lips and a very long upper lip so personally I felt this was a good thing for me. I did sit in front of a mirror a few times distorting my face trying to figure out how it would look (not the best idea) but I put my trust in him.
Everything is still going well. Go tomorrow for appt. and hopefully get all the stitches out. The stitches under the nose came out just a few days after surgery and it looks like the scar will be very minimal. The ones I still have are in the scalp and mouth. I'm sure my body is going to rejoice when I get them out.

Hi Seasons,

I had a consult with Dr. Y one week before your surgery. I liked him very much...he even let me see the unveiling of a women that had a mfl (she gave her approval for me to see her - it was his idea I didn't even ask)
Anyway, this woman was 4 days post op and she looked fabulous-so natural. Anyway, I would love to see your pictures because I am thinking of having a mfl next summer. Is there anything you think I should know before I have mine done...since you have first hand experience with Dr. Y. already?

Thanks,
Maria

Post Op

Postby seasons » Fri Dec 28, 2007 4:56 am

Hi maria,

I'm going in for post op this morning. I will send you pm email when I get back.
My recovery had been fast and the results are to my satisfaction. He's getting me back to the self I was before the first PS worked on with and also I have significant improvements. I'm thrilled. I will post some pics soon. I shared some off line with Janie because she wants to schedule with him also. If you want to see these early, its okay. I wanted to wait 2 - 3 weeks post op to share them with the forum.
Will talk more when I get back from Boston!

Back From Post Op

Postby seasons » Fri Dec 28, 2007 2:04 pm

Hi Marie,

I got back a little bit ago from my post op. They said I was healing quite well. When I walked in, I told the lady at the front desk that I was here to see Dr. Y and she asked if I had seen him before. There was not a clue to her that I was just a bit of a week over post op.
All stitiches are out. As usual, Dr. Y was his warm and compassionate self and his nurse Jan took out the stitches and she and I chatted about things going on in the plastic surgery world today.

My opinion: Dr. Y is the bestest. I would have had a hard time enduring another botched surgery.

I work for the defense industry and I am known for getting on my soapbox when I feel strongly about something so here it goes:

I have read so much on this forum. It has been a great source of information, consolation, and advice. I feel very lucky about the decision I have made with this current surgery. It could have gone in many different directions.

I would recommend Dr. Y to anyone. I will be one of his best cheerleaders. And I am sure there are many other great surgeons. Whatever doctor you chose, we owe it to ourselves as women to do our research, specifically, getting patient examples and references. The internet never tells it all. We can all paint a good picture. Dr. Y is a prime example of an ethical, compassationate, and dedicated professional. Logistics and cost should not deter us. Sometimes, it is either pay now or pay later. Trust me, I paid later both financially and emotionally. If I transfer back to Dallas in the upcoming years, I would strongly consider traveling back to Boston for any further surgery I may want.

With everything I have read on this forum of disappointments, and until (if ever) there are some regulatory measures put in place, we need to stick together, protect ourselves, and sift all of the unfeeling and/or inexperienced surgeons out of the main stream. It seems as if they provide poor services, they blame it on the emotional female. Okay, give us the scalpel and tell us how you feel for the rest of your life about us. I bet they would be even more emotional.

This email isn't all about one doctor, its about women (and men) standing up for their rights and preventing getting taken advantage of. Am I angry about the surgery I had in March. You bet I am. And he knows it. Does it do any good? Nope.

Okay, sorry. I'm off my soapbox now. Just something I had to say.

Seasons,

So glad to hear how wll you're doing. I saw the great work Dr. Y did when I went in for my consult and all the post-op women in the waiting room looked great. I would love to talk with you more since I am going to have him do my surgery. If you could send me a private email I would love it. Thanks so much.

Email

Postby seasons » Sun Dec 30, 2007 6:15 am

Hi Maria,

I sent you a p.m. wth my email. Looking forward to hearing from you. The healing is going fantastic and my face is settling well. I have more pics that I can share off line that would be too many for when I post on the forum so let me know if you are interested. I am taking daily photos because the healing is going so quickly. I have to go back to work on Wednesday. Back in March I was so morphed I had to go in and tell everyone I hit the dashboard. Several thought I had been beat. This time, I'm going in smiling. There will be no visible signs that they can see. Keep them guessing!! I'm soooo relieved....and happy. (My hair is a disaster!!! laughing hard! but it is long and thin and needs some attention at the salon!) Dr. Y 's office washed it for me when I came in after surgery and it felt SOOOO much better. I just need a good trim.)

refreshme - second and third opinions are always good. Dr. Y was my third consult and I stopped there. But its personal for everyone of us and you are doing the right thing. I can share my personal thoughts and opinions and I am sure he has other references if you ask him, you are doing your homework and it sounds like you will make the right decision for yourself. Let me know if you have any specific questions about my experience or would like to see photos. I'm still about a week or so out from posting on forum.
