Gynecomastia

Gynecomastia

Postby Synesthete » Wed Nov 12, 2008 4:04 am

Hello Dr. Silverman,

I would like to know if one can have unilateral gynecomastia? And if it can feel lumpy and hard and painful especially to pressure.

I had a scan and my doctor told me it is gynecomastia. I am still very uncomfortable with this diagnosis.

Thank you.

Yes, gynecomastia can be unilateral. There is an extensive FAQ about gynecomastia on my website, which you can find at the following URL:

Thank you so much for the reply. I have read the information on your site.

"Gynecomastia often occurs on both sides, so if a breast mass occurs on only one side, it may be more suspicious for cancer. It would be extremely unusual to see male breast cancer on both sides at the same time."

:?

I wish mine would spontaneously disappear.
