does Rogaine work on your hairline?

does Rogaine work on your hairline?

Postby Willow00 » Tue Jul 23, 2013 9:06 pm

i always hated my hair line but it gets worse with age! it is receding and i am starting to look like my grandmother!!!! i have a "widow's peak" hairline but the receding parts are going back further each month! i want to use Rogaine on it but the back of the box says it is only good for the part in the middle of your scalp. Anyone have experience with this?!!?! i don't want a hair transplant right now i am in my 20's! i want to nip this in the bud before my hair line is in the middle of my head!!!! also have been using acne medication which i feel like kills hair/inhibits growth. i notice my eye brows get thinner when i use prescription acne meds. help?!?!?!?!??!

We received a very similar question on our site recently. My understanding is the initial clinical trials did not evaluate the efficacy of minoxidil on the hairline or in the frontal zone. Minoxidil is an FDA-approved agent that makes no claims of efficacy in those areas. Some individuals do, however, experience improvement up front. So it might be worth a shot. Regardless, I believe the majority of minoxidil users, who find it to be effective, note the difference in the crown area.
