Propecia works!

Propecia works!

Postby mjclikesit » Sat Jun 16, 2007 7:03 pm

Im only 31, been taking it for ten years. No side effects. It wont make your hairline improve, but it will stop your hairline from receding any more and will thicken the rest of your hair. I live by it. If you decide to take it, remember, it takes 3 months to see results.

mjclikesit - I have just been prescribed 50 mg spironolacone and 5 mg finasteride (proscar) - same as propecia but stronger. My derm thinks this will inhibit the amount of DHT reaching my scalp and predicts it will halt my hair loss (200+ per day) and regrow hair.

I am afraid of the impending "dread shed" which sometimes commences upon the start of the regimen. Did you experinece that? Also, could you share what side-effects propecia/finasteride has had on you?

THANKS.

I am taking 100mg of spiralactone and 2.5 finesteride. Haven't noticed a big difference in the amount of hair on my head and I had an awful shed about 4-5 weeks out. Now (after starting the meds in March) I am losing 20-30 hairs /day as opposed to about 150/day. I have been officially diagnosed with PCOS for over 15 years.

Good luck! I hope that the regimen that we are on works for us!! :)

i started using finesteride and after 4/5 months i had lost more hair than what i had lost before using it.

i really don't think it works for everyone and with some people like myself it may cause more loss

My husband used propecia and like rogaine, you have to stay on it or you lose more hair as soon as you stop taking it. That is a dangerous thing to consider when you never now how you will react. I would recommend seeing a dermatologist who specializes in Hair Loss. You can use http://drdermatologists.com to find out or the add/aocd websites. Don't make decisions regarding hair loss treatments before first consulting an expert. Plastic Surgeons are not trained in hair loss disorders but many of them do hair transplant surgery. Do your research.

This may not be the right place, but I am new to this. Sorry.

I have just the opposite problem. I have spent an enormous amount of time and money on my tattoos.
War ships, G.I.'s etc. The problem is the hairs grow in through the tattoo and takes away from the look.
I am tired of shaving my body to make it smooth like a 10 year old boy.
