Postby driftwood012 » Sun Apr 24, 2011 11:13 am

ive had a lot of laser hair removal and it doesnt work, everyone tells me im perfect candidate, dark hair, good skin, i had prob 15 sessions with american laser center and it didnt work so they gave me my money back, then i went to a top place in nyc for 6 sessions and it still hasnt worked, i'm 26 year old male. is there a reason? i get my chest, abs, full back and shoulders done. there has been some reduction but minimal for 20 sessions!

Hi Driftwood, wow 20 treatments and no result must really hurt your pocket ,great results can be achieved with IPL-intence pulse light therapy ,if you've been having laser perhaps your hair is more superficial and needs a lighter penetration this can be achieved with IPL. Laser penetrates deeper with a direct beam ,IPL penetrates to levels depending on what filter with a broader band of light. It also has a higher success with finer hair, a sign to look for if your therapist is successfully treating your hair is a slight smell of hair burning this is called plume and is a significant indicator your hair is being targeted .Perhaps the settings were a bit to low that would depend on your pain thresh hold , a low setting would take many more treatments to achieve successful permanent hair reduction .Make sure you shave your back prior to treatment and not wax ,hair must be in the hair shaft below the skin surface for the light to be attracted to the hair pigment . Hope i have helped, i treat clients with IPL and have had fantastic results good luck Danni00

HI Driftwood,
It's been a long time since I've been on here.. I stopped counting my sessons a long time ago I've been doing this for so long now! It's now 2011, I began this years ago! I thought I would be ALL done by now when I first signed up for this!

But I'm still going.. ! So I don't know why 6 months is ever mentioned to clients. It takes a long time, and you need a lot of patience...

I totally believe in this I really do! I think people give up though because we are told after a certain amount of sessions it will be completed.
It's been years for me doing this and I wish I could come here and say "I'm all done"
no more treatments but I can't.

Hang in there! It is permanent removal don't forget, it just takes SOO long!

from what i've heard (not just on this site but "around") is that laser hair removal doesn't work as well on men as it does for women. i really don't know why, but i wish some research would be done on it. i'm sorry you had such a bad experience.

The only reason, why it's not working is simple - testosterones.
Adult testosterone effects are more clearly demonstrable in males than in females. In men, testosterone plays a key role in the development of male reproductive tissues such as the testis and prostate as well as promoting secondary sexual characteristics such as increased muscle, bone mass, and the growth of body hair.
It is very easy to find your level of testosterone. If you have bold head and excess body hair, testosterone level is high.
I hope you find it helpful.
