Swelling under the eyes after laser

Postby beatrixpotter » Sat Apr 16, 2016 1:19 pm

Hey everyone,

I got laser treatment under my eyes done for dark circles about 10 days ago. Although there was no visible reaction immediately, my under eyes started to swell almost the next day. Also, my cheekbone area, immediately beneath my dark circles, was swollen too and as a result, my face looked weird and my eyes small.

Now, the swelling reduced a little since then, but its taking a lot of time, and the area around my cheekbones, closest to my nose under my eye, does not seem to be reducing at all! I even visited the surgeon a second time and she said it will go away and its all lymphatic drainage. The swelling under the right eye at times even pulls at my eye and is painful. I have been constantly icing it as well and that only seems to turn it pink. Is this normal and will it go away?

It's normal. Use warm water after the 4th day.

Thanks for your reply. I have been icing it and taking ibuprofen for the swelling. My doctor recommended benadryl yesterday. I have deep set eyes and now they look smaller, like the "plumpness" under the eyes caused by the laser has pushed them in. Is this a long-lasting effect from laser?

You need to wait till the swelling goes down.

Alright... thanks. I was just concerned as to whether this is a permanent change or if the swelling is taking long to subside.
