Is this drainage typical? How much longer?

Postby pinkleopard » Sat Jun 20, 2009 12:35 pm

Hello Dr. Hochstein,

I am 18 days post op from a full tummy tuck with lipo to the back and flanks. My doctor still has one drain in and I am still draining about 75ml a day. Should I be concerned? How long does it typically take for the draining to slow down/stop? I am confused as I see posts where patients have drains removed 3 days to one week after and I am going on 3 weeks.

The timing can vary significantly. I have left drains in place for up to a month. I am sure it will not take too much longer.
