Why do lip lifts seem to be so rare?I have had 2 consults with 2 different docs. One suggested a lip implant because my top lip is small and barely visible in the corners. The second doc really dislikes lip implants and suggested a corner of the mouth lift. I see his point, as my face is drooping in that area, and it would help show more of my upper lip in the corners.
However, it seems like most people go with implants rather than lifts. I searched all over the internet for corner of the mouth lifts and there are not many pics I could find, so is there something outdated or wrong with lip lifts. Yet, lip implants pics and stories are all over the place. Does anyone have any advice or experience on this?
Re: Why do lip lifts seem to be so rare?I'm sorry I don't have an answer, but I completely agree! Maybe doctors aren't skilled in the procedure because they are so rare, and are afraid of the patient ending up with a lip that's too short? I intend to have a lift myself, because I have a lovely full upper lip, but the space between nose and mouth seems to have grown over the last year, and it's hanging flat. When I lift it I have a beestung full upper lip and it would be pointless to get fillers when I have enough lip on my own, and just need a little lift. I'll probably go to Dr. Kimberly Henry in the CA Bay Area. I'm impressed with her work. She has lots of before/after photos of the surgery which were taken shortly after the procedure and show stitches/swelling so you'll know what to expect, but they also show how nice it looks after it's healed. I think docs fall back on fillers because a.) it's easier for those who have no skill with lifts and b.) fillers have to be repeated periodically and they get more steady money from you.
