Areas lipo'd hard as rock--what to do/is it normal?

Postby eastcoast67 » Tue Mar 01, 2011 8:29 am

Hi everyone,

I had Lipotherme on 2/17 on stomach/flanks/I/O thighs and neck. My bruising is gone now what I have left is numbness, hard lumpy areas, and I'm hoping still swelling. I'll be two weeks on 3/3 and honestly the areas I see a change are on my neck (which is rock hard and numb) and some on my abdominal area. Thighs/flanks--nothing. I know everyone has said to wait until about week 2-3 for the swelling to start to go down (god give me patience) but how long was it following the bruising disappearing?

And even with massaging (I'm glad the areas numb are for now cause I'm not being gentle) when can I expect to get the feeling back and how long does it take for the hard lumps to disappear...do they? Is that a sign of where I'll have continued complaints?

Please give me some insight. Also, how long did people wait to change into a stage II garment? Should your Stage I be loose or fit comfortable but not unbearable?

HELP

Hello eastcoast67,

This is my first post on here. It's great for research, so I thought I'd let you know about my experience.

I had lipo abdominal, waist, mild flanks on the on the 19/1, that 6 weeks PO now.
I had/have lumpiness and hard areas, it has decreased allot in the last 2 weeks.

What has been working for me (it might not be all by the book :) )
Exercise, going to the sauna, taking my CG off for a few hours per day to begin with (to help strengthen the tissue. and doing stretching to help the hard hematomas ect) Arnica cream and tablets, Epson salt baths (I found this helped allot!) massages as you mentioned, been using Q10 cream and straight Vit E twice daily.
Numbness: I don't have full sensation back. I think this has been gradually improving (its hard to tell how numb you are, isn't it :) )
My PS told me before OP that I would get swelling and hard lumps and that they would go away with "final results". I find it's improving week by week. However the swelling (although allot better overall) goes up and down within the day.
As for stage 1 & 2 CG, I changed over at about day 12 PO, but that was due not being able to wear clothes over my stage 1 very well, and I found that the clip and zip was causing rivets (in my sides especially) I was worried about that imprinting and becoming permanent, so I switched. My shape changed pretty quickly with the stage 2 and was firm/tight, I found I couldn't sleep very well for the first week or so, but after perseverance, I didn't know that I had it on, and I find it loose in some areas now. (I only wear it at night now)

I'm not sure if that helps any, but sometimes it's nice to know your not alone.

Goodluck with your healing.

Misslouise,

Thank you for getting back with me...yes, it helped a lot. When I call my PS office and talk to her office manager (who had the same thing done last year) she was talking two - three weeks having most feeling back and hard lumps done around week 6 like yourself.

I also asked about re-do and was told that would not be performed until the 6 month mark--when your swelling is done and the length of time should have been enough to completely heal.

I am today at week 2 PO and ordered a stage II yesterday--I probably should have ordered it before but wasn't sure of sizing...and as it turns out I had to order the same size as stage I anyway. I need to be patient, but its hard as we know.

Thanks again for your response...I was hoping someone would help answer me.

After my surgery for the first two weeks my dr did and RF treatment on the lipoed areas. Aparently this was to help break down any lumps and help reduce the swelling. I dont know if it worked but i had no lumps or hard spots on my abdo at all and only very minor numbness in my inner thighs. All the numbness has now gone. I had my liop done on the 17th of November.

I'm a month since my procedure and and my lower abdomen and flanks are still very swollen and as you said rock hard. Probably a little better than they were 2 weeks ago so I can see light at the end of the tunnel. I was only give 1 cg which I am now only really wearing when I am at home (wore full time for first 3 weeks). I work shift work 4 on 4 off. As the top of my abs have no swelling I am folding down the top portion of my garment to give a double layer around the bottom of my waist for extra compression. I could have bought a stage 2, but I can't see the point now and my ghetto solution is working at the moment.

hi everyone - I'm new to the lipo discussions because I have been stuck on my TT group (I had lipo and TT on 2/14 so I'm 3 weeks po).

I was going to post this same question! about the lumpy hardness in my flanks... I have a bad spot on my left flank area - my right is better than my left but still not soft. I just got some Arnica cream and Bromelain pills, so I'm starting on those today. And I didn't know about the massaging! It freaks me out to touch the hard numb spot. I'm kinda scared to massage it.

So this is normal? I was more worried about the TT than the lipo, but it seems like the flank lipo has been the worst! I still can't sleep on my sides and I'm guessing its the lipo and not the TT, cuz of those hard wierd spots. gross! I guess I can notice it more now because all of the rest of me is softening up, except for this one bad spot. I'm getting a new CG today from the doc so maybe that will help. I'm so sick of this 4 panel stiff gross rough thing I've been wearing since surgery!

Hello everyone,

So, I have switched to a Stage II garment on friday and admit when first I looked at it I thought there was no way in hell I was getting it on. And, I ordered the same size as my Stage I garment so I was feeling pretty down. But, on it did go and I immediately saw results with the swelling. I didn't think I was that swollen (truth be told I thought it was just me being fat) but when after one day of having the Stage I on and seeing how much smaller I was I was soooooooooooooooooooooooooo happy. And, the hard felt areas (while still there) are smaller. My swelling is much better and I never had any problems staying in the Stage I. It actually feels really comfortable...so much so that I ordered a smaller size.

I'd also like to say that I got my 'flow' at the same time. So this too may have helped with some of the swelling...just a thought

Anyway, still numb and having strange feelings in areas...not pain just weird. I had under my chin done and that is actually the area that bothers me most--and yes, it has hard spots and numbness (weird) but I'm not wearing a garment for that area--just massaging it like mad.

AND, this morning I fit into my skinny jeans (very snug) but still got into them.

so glad to hear you are better, eastcoast! I do think the change in the CG helps - mine is much better today, after getting a new garment yesterday. My old one had a seam that kept cutting right into my waist in such a way that the lump wouldn't "break up" and my new CG is much smoother inside. I dont' know if it's stage 1 or 2 or what - my doc didn't get into any of that.
Are you using Arnica cream, or taking Bromelain? someone on my TT thread suggested that, and I started both yesterday as well. I think the combo of all these things is helping. Yahoo!!

and girl - getting into skinny jeans is awesome...I don't even own a pair, but I hope to at some point soon! As soon as I can get back on the treadmill and trim down my flabby butt and thigh areas that are getting flabbier from sitting around so much!

Have a great day :)
