Be careful of DR. ORLANDO FIGUEROA CERPA

Postby msmona » Thu Apr 26, 2012 8:31 am

I am writing this as warning about DR. ORLANDO FIGUEROA CERPA. I had a friend from this board that went to Dr Cerpa twice for butt implants and lipo with good results. When she referred me to him I came to this board and read some good reviews about. I am writing this for the purpose of letting anyone else who plans on going to him to be aware although everyone's experience may be different. I am going to write about 3 experiences mine, my mother's and another patient of his that I met there and still keep in contact with. I went to Cerpa March 28th for liposuction and fat graph. When I spoke to Cerpa by phone he was very nice and informative and he made me feel very comfortable with the decision of choosing him. The first thing that I did not like is that he quoted me one price and once I confirmed that I was going he told me that he looked at my pictures again and he need to charge me a $1000 more because I had a lot of fat. I told him no I would not pay more than what he originally quoted me. Cerpa does not include blood blood work or medication in the price of his work only one night stay in his facility so you are on your own for everything else. He also quote you a certain price for your medication and compression garment and then charge you more once you arrive. After my surgery I had a fever so I end up having to stay an extra night in his facility costing $120 which I didn't mind however the cost of my medicine jumped from $45 to $110. I had to pay for my own iv that was given to me staying that extra night and even the juice an crackers they bought LOL!! #-o . He promises to come to your hotel room everyday to message the areas worked on to prevent lumps (which he did do that for my friend) but never did for me. Overall my experience was not so bad. My mother went a week after me on 4/3 and she called me crying because of how he treated her.
1. He tried to charge her $800 more the morning of her surgery saying it was a big surgery (tummy tuck, lipo and fg).

2. When he couldn't get the $800 before surgery from her when she woke up from surgery he told her that he gave her something so "she wouldn't bleed" and she needed to pay him $400 more for that.

3. When he couldn't get the $400 from her he tried to charge her to stay in the facility that night which is supposed to be free.

4. She said when she woke up the next day she too had a fever and he told her she had to leave by 3:00 because he had another patient coming in. She said she felt like $hit because not only was he hounding her for money, he showed no concern after her surgery.

5. Her medicine jumped from $45 to $90 not to mention he almost doubled the price on the compression garment. He charged me $95 and charged her $140 for the same garment. He also quoted her $60 for 2 binders and they changed to $60 each.

Needless to say she will never go back to and she is highly upset that she even chose him. Btw, he had the nerve to ask her to recommend him the day she left. I never had a tummy tuck so I do not know but she said he did not give her dissovable stitches and now she is stuck with the stitches
in her stomach and cannot get them out. She went to a few ps in NY and even the ER and they wont remove them for her. What should she do??

Lastly, I am writing about his other patient I met. He badly burned her on her stomach and she caught an infection called cellulitis. She had to be treated where she lives and had to have extra fluid drained from her stomach and from the burn(it bubbled up with fluid). When she was still in Mexico and called Cerpa about the burn she had and that she needed to have it looked at he told her "I am on holiday" [-X so it was never tended to until she returned home.

Anyone considering going to this Dr should be very aware of the possibility of these things happening. I personally would never for back to him for anything.

Thank you for the very informative email. I'm looking for a surgeon to do a TT and I will be sure to not go to this doctor.

Good luck.

I would post this in the buttocks forum too. Thank you for sharing this with us. I can't believe how terrible this Dr was to you all! [-X I hope your mom finds someone who can get those stitches out for her.

An ER that won't remove sutures?!? That's odd. Very odd indeed. That actually borders on an EMTLA violation for the ER facility, that's a bit questionably unless the sutures were deeply embeded and required a surgical consult and referral which legally a facility MUST give. Or they were not ready to be removed. PM me, maybe I can assist and direct you.
I did, I liked it and I'm doing it again...

Nope, I thought it was odd too. She went to mt vernon hospital in ny and she said they said they wont take it out but they "wanted to see it to take notes". I found a Dr in Manhattan that removes tummy tuck stitches. However, when my mom arrived they told her "they never saw stitches like that" before and he could not remove them because it is "mattress stitches" and it looks like how the side of a mattress would look. I called him and he tried to say that the dr's in the us is lazy. I will pm you.

I had buttocks implants with Dr.Cerpa and everything that was said about him is true. He does raise the prices of garments and medicine and also does not use disolvable stitches so 90s!! My plastic surgeon at home was not impressed. When he took my stitches out in my incision the wound wasn't totally healed and i had to leave mexico with an open wound down my butt crack. It cant be re stitched once it has be open. Also one of my drains got irritated because he left my drains in so long and still has not healed. Also I have an indentation on the inside of my left butt cheek beside the incision that looks horrible. He claims its from internal stitches and will fill out in a few weeks. Overall I am soo upset and pissed i feel like i wasted $6000 plus $1500 hotel $1000 for plane and medicine all for nothing. I am just praying my incision and drain heal infection free and i have no more complications. lets just say I am glad to be home in Canada where my plastic surgeon has been taking care of the disaster Dr.Cerpa left me with. Oh i forgot to mention my butt hardly looks any different and i didnt get what i had asked for!! So please stay away from this Dr when considering Butt implants or anything in general!! Pray for me

I found this topic while doing some research on the subject and I am very disappointed to see such an unprofessional behavioral. Thank God we have discussion boards like this one!

I just wanted to comment on Dr. Orlando Figeuroa Cerpa. I have only had positive experiences with him. I have been to him 3 times and each time have been thrilled with results. The first time I went, he did charge me $350 more than what he quoted me through email, here's why: He cannot properly evaluate you through photos! He needs to see you in person to tell you exactly what you need. He also won't be able to tell what medications you will need until after your surgery. You may need antibiotics or pain medication, you may not. The treatment I received from him was worth every penny, and his nurse Patty was a real sweetheart. I would go to him again in a heartbeat. I am so glad I didn't pay much attention to a few negative posts and kept my mind open about going to Mexico and seeing Dr. Cerpa. I know all doctors have both good and bad comments made about them, both here in the USA as well as Mexico.
