I was just wondering if anyone could either share their experiences, recommend some places or provide info on having liposuction done out of the country. ie. Mexico and S. America. I've read the posts on having a procedure done in Versalles, but what about other places? After all expenses, does it really work out to be cheaper and is the quality of care and results as good? Thanks.

Oh wait...he has a little sister coming, due 2/10/09!
I have recently had lipo on thighs, inner and outer and a small amount from the tummy in Thailand. I have joined forces with an already established medical tourism company based here in Thailand and wanted to experience for myself the service and quality of the work so that I could feel confident recommending it to others.
It's been 3 weeks now and I am feeling very pleased. There is a little swelling left but I haven't had any of the itching or ropey feelings that some others have mentioned. The only thing I hate is wearing the compression garment as it is the hottest time of the year in Bangkok right now and I find it uncomfortable.
I am thrilled though that I took the plunge as for the first time in my life I feel okay in my swim suit, not feeling like I have to cover up my saddle bags!
If anyone is interested in surgery in Thailand, please email me at privately
The prices are probably half of any Western country, the service at the hospital and quality of the PS and other medical providers we use are excellent... I have have tried out the lasik eye surgery 4 years ago, the dental work, the dermatologist and now the PS... so I can personally vouch for their work.
Apologies if my post sounded like an ad. I am genuinely in the middle of post op recovery which is why I joined the forum. I find it useful to read what others are going through and reassuring to know what is normal to expect. I wouldn't have posted the message about surgery in Thailand if Vixen hadn't asked about out of country surgery.
I am going to be arranging medical treatment for others in the future and thought the contact might be useful but I'm not trying to push anything here at all. So aplologies...
How does the cost vary between the US and Thailand? I remember seeing a news documentary (20/20) about surgery in Thialand and how inexpensive it was. Where in particular did you get it done and what country are you from, if you dont mind my asking.
no need to worry jules if you are genuine i apologise its just i have noticed a lot of companys posting on here
but anyway i have heard about bangkok and thailand for surgery and i know it is alot cheaper for me personally its to far to travel just for lipo im a londerner!
but if you are getting more than one thing done it would make sense to travel heck thats the reason im going to prauge for my lip it will cost me less than half the price than in the uk!
Barpec, I have been living [teaching]in Thailand for the past 6 years which is how I got interested in all this. Seeing how good quality cheap medical care is available here made me start thinking! I am from New Zealand and going back there in June.
I don't know about American prices and can only compare with NZ but my friend just came over last month and had a face lift which she got quoted NZ$35,000 in NZ [aprox US$25,000] and paid about US$5,000 here in Bangkok. My lipo cost aprox US $2700. How does that compare?
Of course there are good and bad hospitals and surgeons like anywhere and there are horror stories. So you do need to know that you are using a reputable hospital and surgeon.
Honeychild, I agree it makes sense to get several things done at once and many people get their dental work done here as well which again is a lot cheaper. Good luck with your trip to Prague. I will be interested to hear how it all goes. Are you going to take someone with you? I think it can be lonely otherwise if you are feeling a bit down after the surgery...
With cheap airline deals, some people look on it as a chance to have the surgery and then recover with a holiday by the beach but after my experience with lipo I think I would have the holiday part first and then the surgery! It's hard to lie back and enjoy the sun with the compression garment on!
yeah they wouldnt let anyone leave the unit if they having large liposuction no way that would be to dangerous
it includes 2 nights in the hospital and then if i want to stay a further couple nights if im not feeling well i can stay as well its in the johnson and johnson clinic in prague so you know its a reputble place johnson and johnson wouldnt have anyone there!
I will be staying for a total of 3 nights the sooner you get home the better for lipo as the pain peaks around the 3-4th day
Definitely much less expensive, especially if you have multiple areas of lipo done. With airfare it would be close to half price. Always a good option to have. What center did you go to and was it nice (as in resorty) or more of a hospital type setting? I have heard of both. Glad to hear you are happy with the results, most of us are. I feel bad for the people that dont get the results they want. Too much money and recovery time for that nonsense. Did you get lipo or smartlipo. Do you have pics available that you can share? I appreciate the info.
