Need volunteers for FDA trial of new laser lipo device

Postby docmalan » Wed Oct 29, 2008 1:51 pm

I am looking for volunteers interested in enrolling in an FDA trial of the latest Laser Lipo Device. This device is a blended laser that uses two different laser wavelengths to melt fat and maximize skin tightening. I have used this laser since July as part of the safety trials and have been very impressed with the degree of safety and the results which compare and often exceed my results on the other FDA approved devices I have used. My formal FDA testing requires an additional 30 patients and needs to be completed by December 31st.

Participants will need to undergo a pre-qualification telephone screening. Participants will receive a 33% discount on their procedure cost as well as a free touchup using a FDA approved device if required. This discount is provided by the manufacturer and will be immediately credited to the cost of the procedure. We will also provide a $500.00 travel allowance to help those traveling from out of state. In addition I will be teaching other U.S. doctors how to use this device and participants for those training courses will receive a 50% discount on procedure cost.

Let me assure you that this device is very safe and the current trial is not a safety trial but a trial to demonstrate that the laser is as effective at melting fat and tightening skin as current FDA approved laser devices. I have performed more Laser Lipo procedures than any other doctor in the US and my touchup rate is less than 1% and I have never had a significant complication using laser lipo.

I am located in Scottsdale, Arizona. The majority of our patients are from out of state and country and we can assist with travel and lodging arrangements. Out of state patients will need to arrive and be seen for a consultation the day prior to their planned surgery and may fly home 24 hours after the procedure. Out of state patients will also need to have pictures taken at 3 and 6 months postop as part of the protocol. I will arrange for and pay for the cost of having a photographer in your area take your follow up pictures if needed.

I am sure that this device will improve upon the already amazing results seen with the other 2 Laser Lipo devices we are using.

I will post a follow-up notice when we have enrolled all 30 patients and are no longer accepting candidates.

Of note: This study is for patients who have not previously had liposuction done on the areas that are being treated. Also can not accept smokers or patients on blood pressure medications. We have had a great many responses and are answering your emails and phone calls as quickly as possible. To speed the process please email pictures of the areas that you would like to have done along with potential dates. Persons with extreme skin laxity will be given priority.

Sorry..

We are considering a follow-up study on skin tightening for prior lipo patients but that will probably require non permanent ink tatto to measure skin changes and that will be a tuff one to get patient to want to volunteer for.

sounds very tempting...
I'd love to have my abdominal area done as I have already had hips/thighs done. I'd also like my Knee area done too.

I just want to say that this is a fantastic opportunity and thank you for offering it! At this time, I don't want/need more liposuction, but I would definitely be interested in the follow-up study that you've described above. Please keep us posted!

I'd love to do it, and God, the wheels are turning, let me tell you. But we just bought a house and have no additional funds. Bummer deal! Plus, I have a very, very good friend in Phoenix I'd love to meet!

Non-permanent tattoo? And how long does that last? Would the tattoo be out where everyone could see it? If I cannot get more lipo, the skin tightening sounds a little tempting!

We use a special Tattoo ink that can easily be completely removed with a single external laser treatment.

Doc Malan-Confused!

Postby sarrahroxy » Mon Jan 19, 2009 11:14 am

Hello!
I am slightly confused about the FDA trial.
I have had previous lipo on my abdominal area, but was considering lipo on my legs and back area. However, when I contacted your office, I was not eligible because I had had lipo on my abdominal region which I was not looking to get again. So my question is eligibility based on having any previous lipo in general? Thanks and sorry for the lengthy question.

I apologize that you were given incorrect information. The trial is only for areas which have previously never had Liposuction. If you are interested in new areas then yes you are eligible. I will ensure that my staff is more precise in their explanations.
