pain 9 wks after smart lipo and vaser

Postby francegirl » Sun Aug 05, 2007 1:54 pm

I had vaser and smart lipo on my neck and chin on May 31 - it's now 9 weeks p.o. and the pain is still intense. It feels like a rope burn!! When I touch it, it's numb, but all day long I feel the burning and the tingling. And tightness!! I massage it so much I'm afraid I'm going to REALLY stretch the skin!! It's also got a couple of lumps that just don't go away. Can anyone relate???

I'm thinking of getting the procedure done.. with the tumescent technique and you say the pain is intense 9 weeks later? Oh no!! That sorta freaks me out. How much does it hurt on a scale of 1 to 10 (10 being the most pain you've ever felt)? Maybe the doctor burned your skin with the vaser, perhaps that's why you're still feeling pain?

I hope you get well soon!

lipo pain

Postby francegirl » Fri Aug 10, 2007 12:29 pm

Actually, she didn't burn me - the skin is not sore to the touch, it's from the inside. I saw the doc today, and she says things are going well (!!), it's all part of the skin "adhering" from within. Actually, I had a good day yesterday, don't understand why. On a scale of 1-10, I'd say in general it hurts at a 6.

I would be careful with tumescent lipo if Vaser entails such pain. What I learned from this experience is that lipo is not a walk in the park, it's very painful afterwards, obviously with me for a long time. I can't even imagine what it would be like having a traditional facelift. NEVER!

Francegirl, I had vaser done on my neck and jowls, and after one week, it's almost pain free. I don't think it is normal to still be hurting after 9 weeks. I would maybe get a second opinion. Of course, I don't know of what all your surgery entailed, so I may be wrong. Good luck to you.

I would have to agree with Lyn27 re the pain. I didn't answer this post initially as I had everything but the chin done. But I did wonder at the pain you are experiencing. I had a lot of tumescent lipo done and my pain was nowhere near what you are experiencing. I know we are all different and heal differently but I have never heard of anyone having that level of pain 9 weeks out. Maybe get a check up to see if you have other issues in yoru neck. I hope you feel better soon :D

I had alot of tumescent lipo done to my abs and hips..
I only took pain pills for 3days and believe me I had intense bruising and swelling...used lots of arnica gel
But there was a lot of stiffness, tiny electrical shocks in the car and bumps, roping, tightness that pulled like an iron girdle and lots of tenderness and numbness. But really nothing that took pain pills for long
But I was numb for 4-5months so I guess that helped LOLOL 8)
Tingling and tightness is normal but bearable.
I had dental surgery done and he froze 1/2 of my tongue and that was unbearable for 3months, when the nerves were regenerating exactly as you say...burning ,shocks and wanting to rub it all the time...
