Dear Synesthete,

Fractional microbeams of laser energy tend to be safer for darker pigmented skin by creating tiny columns of injury in a non-ablative manner. In this instance, their is normal non-injured skin in between the colums of injury. I would strongly recommend if you are interested in any laser resurfacing treatment . . .to make sure that the physician has significant experience treating patients with skin tone similar to yours (not just one or two patients).

Good Luck,

Dr. Harris
