Flat Bridge

Postby haitianbarbie » Tue Nov 18, 2008 1:46 am

Hello Dr. Harris,
Let me start out by saying I am very impressed with your alar base reduction. But unfortunately I don't see any pictures on your website of how you would build up a flat bridge using either autologous grafts or nasal implants. I know that you can only provide the pictures that you can but as you know flat bridge and short dorsum or a major concern for ethnic noses and an example of your craftsmanship would be very helpful in making a big decision.

Thank You.

Dear hatianbarbie,

Thank you for the compliment. In cases where I need to build up the bridge, I commonly use either autologous cartilage or gortex. I would be happy to review additional photos with you in office of select patients who have undergone dorsal augmentation. I do not like the cookie cutter approach where everyone with a low bridge gets an implant. Unfortunately, in the majority of examples that I see on the internet . . .when implants are used - the patients look unnatural. My goal is to produce an aesthetically pleasing balanced nose. There is a wide diversity of nasal beauty in patients of African descent. So, in my mind a low bridge is not necessarily unattractive.

Take Care,

Dr. Harris
