Accent laser for skin tightening, cellulite, facial sagging/

Postby shal » Thu Jul 05, 2007 5:07 am

I would love to know if anyone has had the Accent radiofrequency treatment to treat facial sagging/ skin slackness on their face e.g. jowls and what experiences and results you have had/ which clinic and doctor has treated you with it.

I wondered if anyone has tried this treatment? From what I gather, it stimulates the production of collagen in your skin and can help all the above complaints as well as countour your body for a lipo affect. Claims are quite amazing, thier B7A pics look impressive (naturally!) 2-6 treatments are needed for the best results and last up to 2 years, as the collagen keeps on producing for ages afterwards. Sounds like Thermage, Titan, Endermolgie rolled into one.

This is one of the providers, there are lots though: http://www.icareformybody.co.uk/sp_accent.html

and on the flip side here is what doctors think in the US: http://www.post-gazette.com/pg/06167/698571-114.stm

Anyone with experience of Accent or any other laser for skin tightening, collagen production, body contouring, cellulite & facial sagging, I'd be very interested in hearing about your experience!

I'd really like to know more about the Accent treatment for facial sagging problems (including marionette lines, lower jaw and nose to mouth/ cheek and eyelids).

It's a radiofrequency treatment and i saw that it was being done at The Courthouse Clinic by Dr. Patrick Bowler but I am worried about whether it will cause side-effects such as dents and facial fat loss like Thermage does? Has anyone tried it with good results for all those areas mentioned for the face?

Why even take the chance? Especially when negative effects may happen sometime well after the treatment. In other words, it's not even something you can stop mid-treatment because you realize there's a problem. In my book, it's just not worth the risk - of losing your face.

I had 3 treatments with the Elos Lazer, must be similar to what you had, and no change. I just wasted $900 and am cancelling my future appointments.

Anything that heats enough to melt cellulite will also melt the fat on your face and neck.

Don't get yourself too hyped up on your rush to beauty.

As I read these horror stories on this board, I am convinced that something serious needs to be done by way of full disclosure to the public. All these "gadgets" are OK'd by the FDA. But where is the research?

Yes, I have been a guinea-pig for this process and it gave me severe acne. Avoid this and Smart lipo - very expensive and absolutely no guarantee of any result.

Accent RF Tx

Postby edthebolthead » Thu May 01, 2008 7:55 pm

The Accent tx is not melting fat. It is heating the fat up causing the connective tissue around it to tighten. The tightening lasts much longer than the ELOS or Thermage systems out there. It has been used in 10 of thousands of procedures and never had a complications. RF has been used in medicine for 150 years. There is no concern for complications.

The results vary 85% of the patines say the would do it again or recommend it to family. However, make sure you go to an experienced used because there is some technique to the treatment and make sure it is the ACCENT XL (XL is the main part). The new units are the system with the best and most consistant results.

If you combine the treatment with Pixel, Botox or Restylane, I guarantee you will take years off your face!

Hi,

I recently had my 5th treatment of accent xl laser on buttocks and outer thighs for cellulite.

There's much more about this on the cellulite board. Seems the majority of gals who posted there were not very pleased and felt it wasn't worth the money.

I have one more traetment to go and as of yet don't see a heck of a lot of cellulite reduction but I will wait for my last treatment and look at the before and after pictures to come to a final conclusion.

The PS I go to in Paramus, claims a lot of people get it done on their face but I was told in order for this to work you have to really do a high strength and it's not too pleasant. I have a high tolerance to pain and can handle it but at times it does feel like someones burning you with a ciggarette! I can't imagine being able to tollerate any kind of increased strength on the face but then again maybe it's not as necessary to go that high on the face/neck.

Good luck.

Sounds risky. The problems with loss of fat with Thermage were apparently caused by too-high heat used on a single pass. Multiple, nonoverlapping passes with a lower setting seemed to get the same good results (assuming results, of course) without the risk.

That's according to the studies I've found.

If you are still considering this.....I'd wait until something better comes along. I spent $2100 for my face and neck, and had zero results. They even checked that it was a hot enough temperature and everything was as it should be. A complete waste of money, time and it also made my face and neck break out severely. I felt like I bought a bad batch of snake oil.

I'm amazed at all these terrible experiences with Accent XL because my experience has been terrific. I'm 41 and I've done two of three treatments I bought to ameliorate the effects of another treatment gone bad (made me look jowly and hollow cheeked and it's made all the difference. I've had so much skin tightening I'm half wondering whether I should even go ahead with the third treatment. My jowls and double chin are really subtle now, even though I don't think Accent is supposed to be able to do much about jowls. I had my treatment done in a very reputable dermatologist's office by a technician and it took almost an hour each time. I also did the similar Pelleve eye skin tightening treatment with wonderful results. It was all money well spent and I will do them again and again as needed.
